Great idea! OPB says they'll keep KMHD jazz but I'd hate to see them lose the passion of the volunteers programming their own shows. I remember being there and seeing people bringing in a box of recordings from home to play. It's that kind of personal knowledge and passion that makes community radio great! |

How 'bout you just answer my question? If the other thread was sufficient, why was this one started? |

This thread is about encouraging OPB to keep the programming whereas the other announces the change and the reasons. Ownership will remain with Mt Hood Community College but programming and daily operation will be handled by OPB at their studios. There's more in the other thread. |

It's actually not yet officially a "done deal," though it sounds likely to happen. I understand that the decision will be formally announced in mid-May. |

There's already a Smooth Jazz station. It resides on 103.3 HD2, 24 hours per day with no commercials, as far as I know. If you have $50, you can listen. It's a one time investment and the sound is crystal clear, limited mostly by the choice of speakers. If you get tired of Smooth Jazz, there are other options such as Blues and Urban AC. There should be 5 more choices in the near future. |
