I really love this, they are still making money, but they have to make more than the last quarter or heads will roll. So they continue lay offs. |

It has little to do with ratings and more to do with the way the debt load was distributed. |

Radio has been about money for many years now! It used to be about ratings and a long time ago it was about those who tuned in to hear the music, the jocks, and what ever else the station offered. No more, it's all about revenue, sales and the bottom line! TOO BAD it came to this but it did. No more live jocks, (you can VT a weeks worth of shows in two hours) no more local contests, (1-800 for the tenth caller) no more local, (can you say syndication?) they save money doing all these things and have taken what the foundation of what radio was built on totally out of the picture. Stations invested poorly and assumed debt from those investments, so others now have to suffer the consequences of those decisions. |

A poster on OMI left a message indicating that the three main anchors at KGW (Tracy Barry, Joe Donlon and Laurel Porter) and meteorologist Matt Zaffino all took 25 percent pay cuts. |
