Here's more from All Access:

---------------Changes Coming To KXL, KXTG Lineups---------------

ROSE CITY RADIO Talk KXL-A and Sports KXTG (SPORTSRADIO 95.5 THE GAME)/PORTLAND PD JAMES DERBY makes some changes, effective MARCH 2nd, that give the FM more local content.

On THE GAME, the station is moving its local "WHEELS AFTER WORK" 6-8p evening show with PORTLAND TRAIL BLAZERS voice BRIAN WHEELER to noon-3p PT as "WHEELS AT WORK," replacing FOX SPORTS RADIO's CHRIS MYERS and STEVE HARTMAN. JOHN STRONG moves into the 6-7p PT slot. That gives the station 10 hours a day of local talk, interrupted only by PREMIERE's JIM ROME 9a-noon. The station carries FOX SPORTS RADIO overnights and weekends.

At KXL, PREMIERE's GLENN BECK moves from 6-9p PT to 9a-noon, filling the gap to be left when WESTWOOD ONE's "THE RADIO FACTOR WITH BILL O'REILLY" ends its run. LARS LARSON's local/statewide show will shift from 11a-3p to noon-4p, with MICHAEL SAVAGE shifting an hour later to 4-7p. The station is adding ABC RADIO NETWORKS' CURTIS SLIWA for 7-10p PT (live) and RADIO AMERICA's ROGER HEDGECOCK for 10p-midnight.

I cant complain about Wheels, I like the guy but the morning show routine is getting old. Something needs to be changed there, I am actually starting to listen to the am sports station with that guy who hasnt hit puberty yet.

The MSP guys need to quit acting like fratboys and just use thier sports knowledge to talk sports. They've got the local angle, but they need to capitalize on it. I too have been switching back over to Colin ("the guy who hasn't hit puberty yet".)

Who says they know anything about sports? They don't they just frat around.

The problem with the Blazers is not the players, it's management and the coach.

On Sunday Lee from the Knicks was doing lay up after lay up (Scoring 29 points) since Oden was constantly shifting over to help the point guards that don't know how to play defense.

This allowed Oden's man to score with ease. After the first time out you would think adjustments would be made, there were not.

But McMillian is such a great interview they don't talk bad about him in public. Quit frating around do your job, or move on.

As for me, I use to be pretty good at sports, and I think the Sports Show talk hosts are what teachers use to be, "Those who can't play well, become sports talk show hosts instead of atheletes."

I really don't know how the Game's PD lets some of the stuff they say fly. Warner put it very well, they sound like fratboys. It sounds like college radio, and It's embarassing at times. I don't like to listen to that show with my kids in the car with some of the crap they pull.

They should DOMINATE the ratings with that local angle, and instead, they are a glorified wacky FM morning zoo that talks about sports instead of playing music.

They completely alienate anyone over the age of 35, or that has any self respect. I find myself laughing sometimes at what they say, but it can be uncomfortable at times as well.

Conzanos show is great, I dont agree much with him but he lets people call in and disagree with him.

The MSP on the other hand rarely takes calls and when they do they call you names and insults when they dont agree with you. I can see the main host atleast making an attempt to be better but "CIP" brings the show back down to a juvenille level.

Canzano has gotten much better. He's learned how to use his voice for radio, he's modulating down a bit more. Like Kenny Vance, he's keeping his voice at a lower, calmer level (most of the time). He has a great partner in John Strong. He listens to most callers and let's them get thier ideas out. Occasionally he'll jump in and cut them off and get agitated. Most talk show hosts do this once in awhile. Overall, I think he's improved greatly in a fairly short time.

Actually I like the fact that they are trying local programming. On a business level sports stations that do more local programming tend to have higher power ratios when it comes to billing. For what its worth I think that Kenny and Ron interact pretty good together.

dr johnny. You should check the ratings. 1080 beat 95.5 in every single day part except 7-10 PM.

The Game's ratings were so high in the last book because they were skewed from the people still thinking 95.5 was jammin in their diaries.

Canzano's show is the best thing on 95.5. It's really good. Love the big guests he's getting. It feels like a big market show. He had Fay Vincent and Rick Barry on last week and Obama before that. It's nice to see a PDX station gteting major national guests.

question on the AM show....Do clients actually want to be on the show? That ultimately becomes the answer to the $64,000 question. Even if you don't like the program, do clients like the program. I am guessing here in Portland there are more who don't like the show than do as far as clients are concerned but I could be wrong. I guess a client could be mentioned as sponsor everytime they use the term douche/douche bag/douche nozzle. Sure would get quite a few mentions......

Bob Kemp was awesome and is an all-time favorite of mine. He has had a daily talk show in Phoenix for a while now (unfortunately the station does not stream). He was gruff and could be downright nasty to dumb callers, but I don't think that was schtick; I think it was born from a passion for sports, and quality sports talk; and a zero-tolerance policy for B.S.

Sporting News Radio is still on the air. I see a couple names on the website from the old One-on-One Sports days (Arnie Spanier). They also picked up Todd Wright who previously did the "Up All Night" overnight show on ESPN radio.

Fond memories: Listening to Greg Robinson on KFXX till midnight, then Bob Kemp...

Agree...I was checking out their interview with Mychal Thompson and I think was is missing is a third person who is a little older to even out the show. It would be typical morning show setup and give it a little more stability. Gavin is quite grating on the ears with his shtick but an older and more knowledgeable person along with Gavin and Chad could make for an interesting show.

Chad's updates... Nothing can make me laugh, get pissed off, then laugh, then pissed off again like those can...

The good news is that the updates are SHORT. It's sorta like donuts... One donut, you think, "Hey, that was great! I'll have another". Second donut, you start to feel a bit sick. You think, "Hmmm... That wasn't so great, not like the first... Let's try a third!" BARF...

THAT's when you realize that there's a law of diminishing returns on donuts.

Same goes for Chad. A short piece is fine, can even be funny... A whole show? Ugh.

As for Gavin and all that stupid "La Familia" crap? Not good at all. STOP it!

I was also a huge fan of Greg Robinson. I just liked the way he combined control of a show with an inviting way of dealing with callers--he let them have their say but also had strong opinions of his own without feeling that the only way to come across strong was to be a jerk. I always wonder what became of him.....I last heard him on afternoon drive in early 2001 on 1550. Anybody know?

I'm really happy to see there are others who have had enough with "CIP" on the game. You would think, considering their target audience is made up of 18-45 year olds, the PD would have him get rid of the Rome show slant to what he does. There are plenty of us that are over the age of 40 who don't care for his antics and would rather just listen so someone who is less about being a copycat. I no longer listen to the MSP because of him and when an update comes around, I turn the station off until I think he's finished. He's not funny, he's insulting and needs to seriously grow up.

He's tried previously to be funny talking about body parts, calling a womans breasts "coons" and referring to Ray Buchanon as being a "mule boy" in reference to his manhood. Anyone who knows anything regarding Black history in this country would NEVER attempt to use those terms and be funny. It's obvious that he's more concerned with trying to impress whoever his friends are and Gavin, than caring if he has offered the listeners and advertisers of that show.

As soon as he's gone from the MSP, I'll be back to listen because I did enjoy what Gavin had to say when I did listen.
