Apple computer CEO Steve Jobs (an ex Reed college student), announced today he's taking a leave from Apple until June due to medical reasons. Jobs appeared gaunt at an Apple press conference in October and did not appear, for the first time, at a new product launch for Apple at the MacWorld expo earlier this month. Jobs profound impact on the success of Apple is manifest in the top-notch quality, design and ease of use of products like the iPod, iPhone and Mac computers. There is no doubt the two years he spent in Portland at Reed in the early 1970's, helped incubate the high craftsmanship of Apple products we see today.

You could actually hear all the class-action lawyers clawing their way over each other to get the suit against Apple's board(for last week's everything's fine press release) as the stock went into freefall. I suspect tomorrow (Thurs) will be ugly.... but I believe Apple can survive and grow in a post "Jobs" era. I plan to add to my position in a couple stages on the way down. 50 shares if it drops significantly tomorrow, and 50 more if it drops a second time down the road.
