On 1640 kHz, I am hearing a mix of KBJA from Sandy, UT and KDIA, which is running a Christmas program from "connectionradio.org." KDIA is transmitting a stereo pilot tone, but the program is in mono.

Yeah, the Radio Disney satellite probably has too much snow on it and stopped feeding the automation. My guess is that it automatically takes the transmitter down to prevent it from broadcasting dead air (especially since the IDs are automated from the satellite too).

I recall one time when Eugene's Z-Rock affiliate had snow on the dish and was broadcasting audio "snow" but periodically the local station IDs and local spots played normally.

KXL was dropping carrier for a while on Sunday afternoon, but I didn't say anything on the board because the problem cleared up after a few minutes.

I don't remember if the 1640 dish is at the Mt. Scott transmitter site or not. Conditions can't be good up there, and access would be questionable. It's hard enough keeping the snow and ice out of the dish on the valley floor.

Ice across the tower base insulators does not make for a happy transmitter!

Plus, ice falling off of towers can shear off the typical copper tubing feed between the antenna tuning unit and the tower.

KDZR is back on the air, but it seems like they are at their night power level.
