Whats your favorite box of cereal??

Right now, as I'm tying, I'm enjoying a huge bowl of Frosted Mini Wheats with 2% milk, and it is heaven on earth!!

"Tying" what? The doors onto the Yugo?

Trader Joe's Vanilla Frosted Mini Wheats.
Honey Nut Cheerios.

Lucky Charms - only enjoyed extremely rarely on those 1960-70's car/hotel trips with the 'rents when they'd splurge on those little TINY boxes that you cut open to make a bowl. Fist-fighting with sibs involved.

>>those little TINY boxes that you cut open to make a bowl.

Then the box would start to leak before you could even pick out all the marshmallows.

I haven't eaten breakfast cereal since the day Frankenberry disappeared from store shelves.

Yep, Frosted Mini Wheats is a killer . . . I keep globbing it down until I run out of cereal or milk. Life is like that too -- just can't stop! (Albertson's Vanilla Mini Wheats is quite excellent as well).

At least with Captain Crunch or Lucky Charms, you'll get sick of it by the third bowl and stop. (Frankenberry was like that also.)

I'm quite sure we've had this favorite cereal discussion before. Anybody else notice this deja vu?

I never have been able to mutli-task!

Can't multi-task? One wonders how you are able to drive the Yugo while holding the door closed with one hand, holding the stickshift lever in place with the other, feathering the brake & clutch pedals with the left foot (the right foot is always on the throttle to keep the engine from dying at idle speed) and steer the car?

OK, ok, I know it was a cheap shot at your beloved Yugo.

The yugo is my baby!

I just made love to my girlfriend in the back of the Yugo last night!
A very surreal experience, I highly recommend it.

Frankenberry, I forgot about that one.

I always wished they had mad a "Grape Ape" cereal. I don't know what it is about grape not hitting the market and like Grape Licorice disappearing from it. I loved Grape Licorice but now you cannot find it anywhere.

Justin - On our next roadtrip, I call "Shotgun", or I'm not riding with you.

Even if you take it through the car wash with the windows open and then sanitize the entire car. NoGo.

I just take me a bowl, pour in two cups of sugar, soak it with some 1% milk, then spoon it out. Mmm Mmm Good! It's a lot cheaper than buying it in fancy colorful boxes. Just a plain white sugar bag.

My mother never let me have sugar cereals as a kid. Today as an adult I am glad that she didn't and you know what. I HATE sugar cereals still today. If I want candy for breakfast I will eat candy for breakfast.

With that said, my favorite cold cereal today is Smart Start although Honey Bunches of Oat will do in a pinch. As for hot cereals I love Red River which you can only find in Canada.

Shredded Wheat
Oatmeal
Raisin Nut Bran
Rice Crispies

...........about 200 years ago Kellogg's (I think) made two cereals that were my INSTANT FAVOURITES--"Double Dip Crunch" (a Crispix-like concoction with honey on one side and a nut coating on the other) and "Triples" (puffed corn, rice and oat, if I remember right.) I don't know if they stopped making those particular two, or if no-one here is carrying them any more, or what.......

Try Quaker Crunchy Corn Bran sometime with eggnog on it. That's good.

So many sugar junkies ... but I'm not surprised.

***********

Cold:

Barbara's Shredded Oats (preferably with fresh sliced Oregon strawberries but banana slices and raisins work, too)
Kashi's Heart to Heart Oat Flakes with Wild Blueberry Clusters (add banana slices)

Hot:

Quaker Oats Old Fashioned Oatmeal (not the quick cook) with Oregon Strawberries (frozen by me during the cold cereal season ... vacuum sealed and then slow defrosted to maintain firmness)

I like the expensive oatmeal that takes forever to cook, too, but I just don't have the patience to wait that long in the morning)

As a kid I liked:

Frosted Flakes
Cocoa Puffs
Trix
Rice Krispies

In no particular order;

Captain Crunch
Cinnamon Toast Crunch
Raisin Bran

Although I don't eat the Captain Crunch and Cinnamon Toast Crunch very often, a couple times a year at most, it drives my blood sugar through the roof and gives me a nasty headache!

I do eat the Raisin Bran more often but not all the time. People don't like being around me after I eat it, if you get my "drift".

I like the old fashioned oatmeal too with a big layer of C&H dark brown sugar on it and either a little bit of half and half or if I have it some heavy cream. Not a lot of cream or half and half, maybe a couple or three table spoons in a little "well" in the oatmeal!

I don't do the oatmeal very often either for both of the reasons I mentioned above!

My normal breakfast is a 1 liter bottle of Diet Coke!

Hey Merkin I promise I left no DNA evidence on the backseats, so you don't have to worry about that. If you're still paranoid, I've got baby wipes in the trunk, we can wipe the seats down!

Cold:

Malt-o-Meal Honey Nut Toasty-Os(Because I am a cheapskate, I don't buy the actual Honey Nut Cheerios...I can't tell the difference)

Hot:

Believe it or not...Wal-Mart brand instant grits...my girlfriend visited North Carolina a couple of years ago on a business trip and got a taste for them...I tried them and thought that they weren't too bad...now they are my favourite hot cereal.

JT...it is a good thing that Yugos have vinyl seats...makes them easier to wipe down!

When I was in the Army ... the breakfast of choice was a bowl of Fruit Loops ... then a can of Budweiser was poured over very slowly ... if you poured it too fast, it would bubble over the side of the bowl.

My doctor tells me that now it would be better to substitute Total for the Fruit Loops. He had no comment on the Bud.

I love SUGAR cereal, although most cereals are not sugary enough.
I've got a HUGE sweet tooth. I like Fruitloops with 2 tablespoons of sugar on top! My wife thinks thats too much sugar, but I disagree!

And I suppose you scrape the bottom of the bowl with your spoon for the little extra sugar with milk even after the cereal is gone!

Booberry - turned the milk bloo and had a great fake blueberry taste.

Cinnamon Life - awesomeness in a box.

Lucky Charms - meh an oldie but goodie can go wrong with it I just wish there was a Frosted Coated Sugar Bombs like in the Calvin and Hobbes comic strip. :\
