I don't know if this has been discussed before and I'm too lazy to check.
One for the Prod guys.
Are the slate announcements before spots still needed? Were they ever? Shane Co. is the best with a simple "spot 2957", but do we need to know "recorded on..blaa blah..stereo-mono compatible...blah blah blah"??? I know this is a small issue and will not cause the downfall of mankind. I'm just curious about other opinions on the matter.

actually I think a spot number is helpful....in this day of mp3s and download sites, I have seen several times where someone grabbed the wrong audio for the same client...and without a #, the mistake would be less likely to be caught. Now if we can just get agencies and production houses to "name" everything the same thing, we'd be set. This year its been common to get traffic naming the spot one thing and the audio calling it something else....

I haven't slated a radio spot in years. Besides when you download a file these days that information is usually available upon download.

And Scott this information IS earth shattering! If it ends up in the wrong hands the fall of mankind is in the balance.

Beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep!

We have only one 1/2 hour radio program that we air that still slates(Thru The Bible)..I personally don't need it...I can see the file name with the air date when I download and air it.

When we started KKJC, there were several programs that used that practice...I grew weary of opening and editing multple 30 minute programs every week just to get rid of the first 20 or so seconds of "This is Love Worth Finding program number whatever for bla bla bla 2003...it starts in in 5, 4, 3, 2...etc"..especially when I could see the info for it in the filename on my screen!

Talk about Earth shattering...the fate of the free world rests upon keeping this info out of the hands of the Commies! shhhhhhh!

Yeah, It's funny when jocks still count down "3-2-1" when they're voicing a spot for me. Old habits are hard to break I guess.
