Fear not, Buns, my spies say young Tesh is intact, and warming up in the KKCW Green Room, ready to deliver Intelligence For Your Life immediately after each gripping episode of the aforementioned Bear. And now I must dim the lights, douse the iPod, and find the radio for tonight's exciting premier. |

I get tired of some Christmas songs. I think "Sleigh Ride" has been played on the radio for 50 years or more. When was that first written? The late 40's sometime? |

Leroy Anderson wrote it during a summer heat wave in 1946. The year before he wrote "The Syncopated Clock" which you would recognize instantly as the theme of a million late night TV movie shows. |

The first recording of "Sleigh Ride" was by Arthur Fiedler & The Boston Pops Orchestra in 1949. #24 on the Billboard chart. Leroy Anderson who at the time was arranger & orchestrator for the Boston Pops, released his version in 1950 as Leroy Anderson & His "Pops" Concert Orchestra. Originally an instrumental, "Sleigh Ride" lyrics were added in 1950 by Mitchell Parish. |

Great, now I have "The Syncopated Clock" going through my head! Until recently, I thought Leroy Anderson's version of "Sleigh Ride" WAS the Boston Pops' because it sounds so similar. |

I heard that White Christmas was recorded by Bing Crosby also on a hot summer day in LA in the 40s. |

That would certainly explain the verse. Christmas music is commonly recorded early because of all the lead time required. I have an old New Christy Minstrels album that makes this point. |
