Friday morning, Jing Wu, 47, was laid off from his job as a test engineer at SiPort in Mountain View, CA. Wu requested a meeting with the company's CEO, vice president of operations, and human resources director. At the meeting, later that afternoon, Wu pulled out a nine millimeter handgun and killed these company officials.

Wu was found and arrested Saturday morning. He is a father to two twin sons. The motive for the shooting has not yet been officially determined.

This is a terrible tragedy for the employees of SiPort and the families of the three murdered managers. I wonder what life was like in the Wu household--was this guy prone to angry, violent outbursts, or was he one of those quiet guys who just bottles up anger and resentments over years and years, until something like this happens.

a nine millimeter handgun

Me thinks he might not have got as far if his arms cache was limited to rifles.

I'd say an investigation into the company's treatment of employees would reveal quite a bit. The guy is still guilty though.

Dont take one example out hundreds of thousands of others who would have had a few pissey angry words or have filed a wrongful termination law suit in response to such corporate actions, even if they did own a 9mm or other firearms .

Another former law abiding gun owner.

You don't know that. It doesn't say anything in the article about how he obtained the gun.

No, innocent until proven guilty. There has to be a trial before someone's guilty (unless he's declared a "terrorist" under the Patriot Act).

Did anybody else catch the updates on this story:
1) SiPort revealed that Wu was fired, rather than being terminated as part of a layoff.
2) Wu had real estate investments in three states, including a few rental houses in Vancouver, WA. In the last few months, these investments had lost so much of their value that Wu couldn't sell any of them without incurring tens of thousands of dollars in losses!
3) Out of desperation, Wu had re-financed his home to try to cover some of the debts incurred by his incompetent real estate speculation.

I'm all for sensible investing, but I think that this guy was a greedy bastard!
