This from All Access: ----------------------NBC Voice Howard Reig Dies---------------------- Condolences to family and friends of former longtime NBC staff announcer HOWARD REIG, who died WEDNESDAY in VENICE, FL at 87. REIG started his radio career at WGFM/SCHENECTADY in 1943, then moved to sister WRGB-TV as news anchor and host before joining NBC in 1952, where he handled radio news anchoring, interviews for "MONITOR," and TV announcing, commercials, and voiceovers. He worked at the network from 1952 through his 2005 retirement, although his voice was heard introducing NBC NIGHTLY NEWS until DECEMBER 2007, when actor MICHAEL DOUGLAS replaced him.
