What do you think the best album of 2008 was?

Lets hear em!

Im gonna have to go with "death Magnetic" from Metallica. I like it better than "Black Ice" from ACDC. The new single from Metallica called "Cyanide" is awesome!

By far, for me - The Raconteurs - Consolers of the Lonely ( They also get the Show of the Year for me )

Single of the year, for me - Kings of Leon - Sex is on Fire

Local artist fave - Telephone ( The drummer from Dandy Warhols' newish band )

Most welcome surprise - Oasis' new one.

Looking forward to a new one from Spoon.

They were pretty good at Dante's a few weeks ago, although the material on the album is superior. You know a group has made it when they have a great album and they are even better than that live.

My fave for 2008 is Steve Winwood's Nine Lives.
Second place goes to B.B. King's One Kind Favor.

Damm, Andy! We were there! I didn't see you. Wait! Maybe I did see you. Did you walk in shortly before the show? We may have exchanged one of those "Do I know that guy?" looks. And yeah, they were great as always. They just pump out the tunes live.

Dude, let me know next time.

I arrived right when the show was scheduled to start, although the Golden Dogs didn't start for at least another 25 minutes. I sat at the end of the main bar (on the left near the pizza window) although I roamed around taking some pictures with my cell.
I'll email a few of the better ones to you.

I really like how they're not shy about switching off on instruments for the various songs. The drummer is a decent guitar player, or should I say the guitar player is a decent drummer.

So, that was you sitting right next to me and my wife? I thought that guy looked slightly familiar. That was the best seat we could get.

Yes, the switching of instruments, and lead vocals, is pretty cool.

Next time, we'll talk.

Sloan Rocks! I'm glad you both caught the show and it was top notch. Alas, I could not make the time when they came through this go-round.

Best of 2008? No doubt, the Daptone Singles Collection Volumes 1 & 2 belongs on this list. If you are unfamiliar with this label, or artists like Sharon Jones, I would highly recommend a visit to the Daptone Records channel on Youtube. I bet you fall in love with soul music all over again.
