I just saw a promo for tomorrow's Ch. 8 sunrise news. They say they are going to tell us how to get free stuff. From jewelry to a radio station. During the segment, "Stretching Your Dollar". I wonder what kind of station you get for free??

An Internet radio station on Live365?

An old Radio Shack Science Fair AM Broadcaster kit?

The radio DJ toy that came up in another thread? (This is a device that looks like a mixing board with a microphone and sound effects. The audio is transmitted to any nearby radio tuned to 1610 AM.)

If it is anything fancier than that, there are probably some serious strings attached--such as not getting the land that the transmitter site sits on, thus forcing the buyer to buy land for a new site.

Why oh why do I keep falling for news promos? You would think after 41 years I would figure out that nothing groundbreaking ever comes from them. Turns out it's a free radio station on Pandora dot com.

Live 365 used to be free. Now it's $14.95 for a entry level account. You still get to hear their commercials. I pay another $7.95 to not hear them. You can stream an internet radio station for free. Just visit http://www.shoutcast.com, click on "Be A DJ" and "Be A Server."
But RIAA might get you for copyright infringment.
So then you go to http://www.swcast.net, sign up for an entry level account. Oops, that cost $9.95. No free "legal" way to webcast now.

Shame, shame, KGW!!

From my understanding of how Pandora works, that service creates a customized playlist for each user. Is there some way that you can create playlists for other pandora users to hear?

This way a listener won't have to tune in to commercial radio at all! WOW, talk about suicide.
