As for Pahlin the true amount that would be taxable would be the per diem collected while she just stayed at home and didn't go to Juneau. If she doesn't amend her return she could be spending time with Wesley Snipes.

That and if IRS does notice, they send you a form in the mail and give you months to respond. Then you can wait until the last day possible to say you can't pay, they then have to set up a repayment schedule that's occasionally more generous than the best bank loan.
