Dan, isn't there some way to also ban users specifically through their IP or even MAC numbers? I mean, banning users solely by their E Mail address only goes so far.....user can hop onto another, say, web E Mail system and re-register under a different name. But in retrospect, I suppose it's possible that IP banning could be equally ineffective, taking into account public computers are often readily available.

But then there's the third option: what's that old passage about "if you can't beat 'em.........."?? ;o)


(Oh yeah before I forget: the ultra-awesome freeware Doom Engine clone "Boom" has a built-in cheat code enabling the player to automatically massacre all the monsters at once in a given level: "TNTEM". If only that cheat worked on Internet Trolls as well.....but then we wouldn't need to keep using IDKFA all the time, and that would end up being a whole 'nuther can of worms and....ohhhhhhhh............ ;o)

I am working on creating a message board that has white background. The weapon I will employ against people who thrash about will be, at the flip of a switch, I will cause all of their text to be posted in white, only.

Then they can say anything they wish. Feel satisfaction. That tree will make a noise - but nobody will hear it.

Brilliant idea. Have it come in various levels of grey leading up to pure white to correspond with the number of infractions. That way the poster will see all his older posts slowly become unreadable and may back off before he makes his entire post history invisible!

Just remove all the vowels from their posts for a while. Then, after they get the message, they get them back!

Moto, an IP ban is pretty useless for a lot of people. They get dynamics.

On the upside, the S/N ratio is good here. Those notables have come and gone, and we've generally gotten better about it. IMHO, few worries.

Give 'em some rope, somebody has enough, shoots an e-mail and we are all good.

BTW: Good time to toss a few bucks into the pot for Dan. Time well spent, right?
