Marvin--I have worked with Tim at two different stations before he went to CBS. He is a top notch newsman. At one of the stations I worked across the glass from Tim. Riley is on the air, exposing his persona. Commenting on that is fair game, given it's not associated with anything negative. And that's the thing, I didn't see anything negative on this thread from Marvin.

I'm with thedude in that I really don't care, unless they are hitting on me, and then it's just out of the norm! Being married and out of that scene for a long time doesn't help, because I'm clueless sometimes. (which just adds to the humor afterword!) Anyway, it takes a moment to sort it all out, let them know I'm not and we move on from there, no worries. Laugh about it later.

Seems to me, I might be offended or annoyed or something, seeing gay people deny it, particularly if I were gay and didn't deny it.

Truth is, we should be past that, and many of us are, so engaging in that self-denial just makes what is not a bad thing worse! Self-respect is in there somewhere, as in why not just have the character to be ok with yourself? It's not like you can just be somebody else, right?

Missing kskd--It was rule at just about every radio station I have ever worked for that you didn't reveal personal information about anyone without there permission. It was a fireing offense. In my experience you have to know a person within that community or who is open and out about it to understand that community as a whole.

Some people don't make your "gaydar" go up! You just don't see it as its not something that either A they were on there sleave or B they just don't come off as feminine types.

Others you know they are gay by there mannerisms and in some cases you know because they are still not at peace with who they are.

But I also know that those in the community who are out don't seek to call others out because they know the torture and agony involved with what that person deals with in the time upto the point where they come out of the closet and come to terms with who they are as a person.

They are just people like you and me and in most cases dealing with more shit than we as straights have to deal with.

Emerson is funny. Like most folks in this market and on this message board, I couldn't care less if he is gay or straight or enjoys molesting beagles.

Sure, Rick has discussed what he wants in his butt, he sometimes wears pink in public, and he is a fierce competitor when it comes to feats of strength. As an entertainer, none of those things really confirm or refute anything.

I have listened to Rick and his crew for years and never really thought about it. but after giving it some thought he has never came across that way to me. Nor has Sarah or Tim. But if he or anyone else is gay, I still enjoy the show no matter what. Whatever he likes is his business. I don't need to see it or know about it. All I want to listen to is his show.
