It seems like such a clear project...then Saturday morning comes and you read this...oh shit. You are among friends. Don't be too much of a dick though. There IS a line.

IMHO Savage is funny as hell. He's a lunatic fringe crackpot, jumping up and down raging at the fact that America isn't all blue-eyed and blond, but he mocks reality with a pathologically misguided wit that can be hilarious, in small doses, if you don't take a word of it seriously. Heaven help anyone who does.

I've only heard his show once. In small doses, I bet it is fairly entertaining. Regularly listening to it though seems like it would drive me apeshit. I understand the people respond to different styles and such. But after a while, doesn't it cross a weird kind of line to pretend that a guy like that isn't just saying things to get a reaction? It's not a moral line, as in " You shouldn't do that. It's bad." But more of a line like " I have to suspend all belief in facts in order to just follow, much less agree with, a host like that. " Then, pretty soon, you start parroting various lines you heard as if you actually believe them. But you don't. It's just that you've heard it presented so many times that you forgot you ever found some stances to be absurd. I don't know, man. I'm guilty of it too. But radio is at it's best when it is compelling because you can relate how a person got where they are in their head. That is to say, they actually believe what they are saying. Which is why The John and Jeff Show is so infuriating to me; They just toss out a random stance and pretend that they think it is the right way to view a given situation. When they know, full well, that it's not. They confuse having a strong personality or the ability to debate with being a compelling radio show. Again, this is just my opinion and we all respond to things differently. But I find it excessively masteurbatory. And that just makes me want to change the station before I get any on me.

Michael Savage does his best and most entertaining work when he isnt on his 'meds'. LITHIUM? I heard Insannity was on some new Bi-Polar med as well. We all know LimBLAH's on OXY. That pertty much sums up the HARD-right.

I saw an older guy at Costco just a few hours ago wearing a cap with SAVAGE across the top -- whether he was a Savage fan or just a savage, I had the urge to give him a public dressdown of the sort Savage does on his show. What say you, should I have done that or not?

I wouldn't. (would be so tempted though) He might just be some body who liked the hat and does not get it about the show. On the other hand, finding out if he's a fan, then pulling the trigger might be doable. Could get your ass kicked too. Funny thing about that. Sure, there is court and you probably win, but your ass is still kicked.

What is really amusing is hearing people who try to take the Savage Nation show too seriously attempt to mentally justify all of Savage's positions into some kind of a cohesive whole. For instance, I once heard a very conservative born-again Christian remarking that he is with Savage on a number of his political stances, but on some days, Savage talks about his favorite adult beverages. He didn't know what to make of Savage. I think that throwing these curve balls is a deliberate part of Savage's schtick.
