CBS RADIO Top 40/Rhythmic KXJM (JAMMIN' 107-5)/PORTLAND PD LISA ADAMS exits with the elimination of her post. ALL ACCESS hears that Rock sister station KUFO PD CHRIS PATYK will also handle programming duties at KXJM for now.

jammin is up for sale

My guess is that Jammin has not been sold. They probably let Lisa go because they figured that they could have one guy program the rock station and Jammin. It's all cost saving measures to make CBS look better. Infact I'm still not 100% convinced that jammin is even on the chopping block.
I think Kink would get sold off before Jammin( that is if Jammin is even up for sale)
Program director jobs are going to be hard to find! Instead of one PD programming a station, he/she will be programming 3 or 4. I figure in about 10 years, there will be about 7 or 8 Pd's in the entire country programming all the music stations.

Spanish FM is coming.

Did I mention Careezy and I were consistantly #1 in afternoons and nights for nearly 5 years while at KXJM?

OK, Kool didn't change in time for the fall book so that brings us to the winter book, which isn't that important so maybe they'll wait for spring but by then PPM will be just around the corner so maybe they'll wait...

105.9 could begin speaking Spanish at any time...

Kool's numbers are NOT KOOL! Cheap channel has done nothing to take that station off the ground! Cheap Channel is to blame for Kool's poor numbers. They abandoned that station and put all the time, money, and effort into Z100 and K103.
Its hard to win in the ratings when your own company gives up on you from day one.

You still get just so excited about Spanish radio stations.
Why don't you move to Los Angeles!

Another great person( and I do mean that sincerely) fired from CBS.
Lisa Adams is BY FAR one of the nicest, most genuine ladies in radio. She is a great mentor and One hell of a PD. She has A TON OF PASSION for radio and loves what she does. She had jammin up and running in no time. This was totally undeserving to fire her, especially for someone that worked her butt off to get jammin up and running. For anyone who knows Lisa Adams knows EXACTLY what I'm talking about. Her work ethic and passion for the business speaks for itself.

I've worked with Lisa Adams at two radio stations. I can state as fact that everything Justin wrote is COMPLETELY true. Lisa is in the category of Program Director that is (both) an outstanding programmer, as well as a superb human being.

My feeling is that she'll find something bigger and better!

Another case where a solid person is brought onboard, not given the tools to produce the results desired, then cut loose. Their loss. Their stupidity as well. Let em wallow in mediocrity until they are totally irrelevent. A great station (cluster) takes great people to staff it and management willing to spend the money and make the effort to grow it.

As for a sale? Unless a deep pocket comes along there won't be any financing available for OVERPRICED underperforming terrestrial jukeboxes.

Ok, so now we see overworked staffs manning cluster I-PODS aren't a growth industry, How about concentrating on delivering a relevent QUALITY presentation and see how that works? Economy is trending down. With so many sub par stations to choose from, why not give an advertiser a quality platform?

Roger...it has become (unfortunately) a common tale. A VERY common tale.

Hate to be a broken record, but I still suspect that this is simply eliminating a management salary prior to selling Jammin' back to Rose City. They're letting the KUFO PD handle the duties "for now." I'd expect the sale to be announced in conjuction with the announcement of the sale of the remaining stations in the cluster.

There is absolutely no indication that CBS intents to keep any of the Portland stations-- their plan is get rid of entire markets, not just underperformers in individual markets. And radio is running out of players large and well capitalized enough to buy up an entire cluster.

I'd look to see them reach confidential agreements with a series of buyers, and then announce the sale of the cluster in one big bang.

I doubt the firing has any basis in Lisa's programming skills. She was a simple (if human) casualty in the devolution of the CBS radio group nationwide.

That would be the best bet for jammin, back to Rose City radio.
Jammin will be fine, as long as cheap Channel doesn't get their hands on the station.
If clear Channel gets ahold of Kufo and Jammin Or Kink, those stations will be unlistenable!
Knock on wood that cheap channel doesn't buy them! (knock. knock)
Id feel really awful if Kink got bought out by Clear Channel. That station is live 24/7 and when cheap channel gets ahold of it, the kink studio will be a ghost town!

On Friday they also let the CBS-Portland Director of Engineering go (Brian Jones), and they eliminated his position.

That's a shame. Bryan's a nice guy and hopefully he won't be on the beach for long. He was at BE for a long time before moving to PDX - maybe he can hook up with his old employer...

Jammin won't be sold back to Rose City. Rose City has enough trouble selling The Game.

With the economy the way it is, I wouldn't be surprised if grocery stores are having trouble selling bread.

The best thing for Jammin and Kufo is for them to get bought out!

Things are AWFUL the way they are currently. EVERYONE is getting fired and CBS will probably continue to lay off all of the full time employees untill nothing is left but a bunch of part-timers!

Lisa is an amazing woman. She taught me almost everything I needed to know about the radio business. Her good faith towards others will come back to her. Only all the best Lisa!

Amen to that Pdxman. There is nothing bad you can say about Lisa Adams because she is a great person, period! I'm excited to see where she will land next. If Jammin gets bought out, I hope the people in charge are smart enough to bring her back.

It's kinda ironic that the very people who can help radio are not allowed to and are pushed away.

Those that remain, don't create great radio, they spend their days doing corporate gamesmanship.
