This from R&R:

----------------------Jenkins Resigns As EMF CEO-----------------------

EMF Broadcasting Networks founder Dick Jenkins has resigned effective Oct. 1 as CEO of the company, which runs the Christian-formatted K-LOVE and Air 1 Radio Networks. Jenkins will be replaced by Mike Novak, who is promoted from president of EMF.

It was a little over a year ago that Jenkins rose from president -- a post he'd held since 1986 -- to CEO and Novak rose from senior VP to president, giving Novak day-to-day operational control and allowing Jenkins to focus on strategy.

In a letter to EMF staff, Jenkins wrote, "One year ago, I accepted a promotion to become the CEO of EMF Broadcasting and recommended to the board of directors that Mike Novak be appointed president. Since that time, Mike Novak has proven that he is the right person to lead this ministry into a new era. Confidence in Mike Novak's presidential leadership has enabled me to begin to think about the possibility of leaving EMF Broadcasting. Now, after several months of analysis and prayer, I have decided that there has never been a better time for me to leave. While I depart with no immediate plans, I am certain that new opportunities and challenges will present themselves shortly."

Dick Jenkins was in town for the massively attended Luis Palau festival a few weeks ago. With him was the K-LOVE network's morning personality, Jon Rivers, making his first visit to Portland. I a good chat with them both there at the event; Dick has always struck me as outgoing and personable.

Actually, EMF was founded by Bob Anthony, former KGW jock, back in 1980. He had left KFRC because he felt called to play music that was in line with his belief system.

Bob brought Dick Jenkins in a couple of years later, and then Mike Novak (another KFRC alum) in later still.

EMF has truly grown since its humble beginnings at a small station in Santa Rosa.

This is Dick's 1st day away from EMF since early 1986. I'm sure it'll be a day of mixed emotions for him and his family. I wish him the very best in his next project.

Speaking of K-Love, their Sacramento station (99.5 KLVS) was forced off the air, due to FAA concerns. It's been silent since last spring, when it moved into Sacramento, from (99.3) Grass Valley.
