OOPS! Make that "Journey concert" "Boy did it rock! It was at Clark County and they said that this is the biggest showing of people clark county has EVER had. It was Cheaptrick(who were not very good) Heart( AWESOME) and Journey (awesome) I would have been ok if it was just Heart and Journey! Cheap Trick just didn't do it for me! Anybody else see the show?

No but I'm a little jealous. It's kind of funny. I posted on another thread about how the Survivor/Styx/REO Speedwagon show I saw was outstanding... until REO Speedwagon got up to round out the night. I left two songs into their set :P

I was at the show last night and was very impressed with how good Journey sounded. I'm a life long fan of Journey and to this day they rank as one of my favorite bands of all time. This was the first Journey concert I've ever been to, and I was a tad hesitant about the new lead singer. I've always thought that Steve Perry WAS Journey. Turns out Neil Schon IS Journey! And the new lead singer sounded great. I've seen Rush (twice), The Police, Steely Dan, Velvet Revolver/Alice in Chains at Clark County and was impressed with how many people were there, even though the weather was a tad iffy. It was packed! I have to say that I really enjoy going to shows there.

Yeah the new Phillpeno singer for Journey is pretty damn good! I heard the other members of Journey found him off Youtube. He was in a journey Coverband. (no joke!) I had lawn tickets, which was fine because it didn't rain. The only problem was, some boner behind me was smoking Skunk Weed, and it was so bad it was burning my nose. Thats fine if someone wants to smoke a joint, I don't have a problem with that, but that SKUNK weed is awful! And my poor girlfriend had a guy accidently spill his beer all over her leg! Other than that the concert rocked

No, not better, just different. Hey M. Have you ever listened to the CD "Trial By Fire" from Journey? If not it would be a great addition for a Journey Fan. I believe it was Perry's last studio album with the band.

Skipped Cheap Trick... Heart ROCKED! Ann's voice was dead on, as expected, and sounded just effortless. Still got the power, girl! "Alone" was an especially high moment for me: slow and stripped down to it's barest elements, just Ann, Nancy and her guitar, brought me to tears. The Who's "Love Reign O'er Me" was another great moment. Too bad it was a short set, I could have listened all night! Journey...not so much. I respect all the work AP has done to sound just like Steve Perry, even down to the look. He's sung along with the records so long, he doesn't have an original interpretation, nothing his own. I wanted him to OWN the music, use that voice to convince me that HE is the new face of Journey. Instead, they are the most talented karoke band on tour this year. :-/

shyguy, I don't mind weed, but this was skunky weed! Stuff soo bad that it shouldn't be smoked! Id rather smell a skunks ass than smell skunk weed, sorry! But hey, I still enjoyed the show, Skunk weed and all BTW_ I think I also enjoyed Heart the most, Ann Wilsons voice is so powerful, she's what 55?? And her voice still sounds as solid as it did 30 years ago. Cheap Trick were boring, plus who the heck wears t shirts with their own band name on them. The lead singer of Cheap trick was wearing a "Cheap trick" t shirt. Now I see bands that are wearing t shirts of other bands, but I have yet to see a band wearing their own band logo t shirt.

Cheap Trick never ever impressed me. I thought they offered very little when they started and went downhill from there. I played very little Cheap Trick on the radio. They were not a very requested band and at the time I thought their music was void of anything I wanted to hear. Heart had some great songs but really hasn't done much since the old days. I was all over the original Journey when they first made the scene. Mostly because I liked Greg Rollie and Neil Schon, two of the cast of great musicians involved in the Santana phenomenon. The first 4 years of this band were vastly different than the direction they ended up going. Steve Perry is a talented artist in his own right. Hooking up with Journey was a win win for them, that is if you measure success solely by popularity. Unfortunately the down side was that there music became formulaic. "Wheel In The Sky" was a hit and it was before Steve came into the band, but it was clear when compared to their first albums that they were heading in a new, more mainstream direction. Not that there is anything wrong with that, however, it is clear that most of you whom are fans have little to no knowledge of how much more musically interesting these guys were before success steered them into making one pop hit clone after another. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy hearing one of their ballads from time to time, but in the broader sense, they aren't really a great band in my book. Successful? Yes. Talented? For sure. Able to hold my attention after one song? No. Hooks may work for those of you whose tastes do not venture outside the main stream, but after a typical Journey hit goes past my ears and the 16 bars of Neil's solo has passed, I always find myself thinking "where's the beef?"

This was not that a great concert, by far all of these bands were much better many years ago. Ann Wilson did belt out the songs, but the weather conditions did effect her from performing at 100%, but she was better than she has been recently, she was better than when I saw Heart in Orlando back in March, but there was so many more people at the fairgrounds so she came with as much as an "A" game as she could. As for Journey they will always be Steve Perry. Now Journey is Jonathan Cain and Neal's band. Yes the lead singer was in a Journey coverband, yet to me he sounded more like the lead singer from Trimuph being Steve Perry. I for one am getting tired of Neal Schon saying on each tour that the new singer sounds exactly like Steve Perry, only Steve Perry sounds like Steve Perry, I am getting tired of "American Idol" types coming in and substituting for key members (ie Chicago) and then you wonder why Chicago is not in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Well he may not be Steve Perry, but he sure as hell sounds pretty damn close to Steve Perry! As I was watching Journey on sunday I kept thinking what the hell is Steve Perry doing these days, and what does he think of the new lead singer? It's gotta suck to have someone else in your original band singing all the music that you wrote. That's gotta sting! I heard the Real Steve perry got throat cancer a while back.

I talked to my neighbor this afternoon about the concert which she attended with some of her girlfriends and some Iraq vets, she (whos not a weed smoker like some people I know uhm I mean myself) said she finished two herself ie joints and I joked "well you mighta met my friend Timberfake"!

"This was not that a great concert, by far all of these bands were much better many years ago" You must have stayed at a Holiday Inn last night! Seriously, what do you expect of a concert in 2008 with bands that were popular in the 70's and early 80's? Do you expect professional baseball players to be better athletes at age 55 vs 25? I thought it was a great concert FOR WHAT IT WAS. While I skipped Cheap Trick, I thought Heart and Journey both sounded great, and I was grateful to see them in concert in 2008! The same can't be said for many other bands of yesteryear. And judging by the sold out crowd, supposedly the largest crowd in CCA history, I'd say many others felt the same as I. And I guarantee you that if Steve Perry was the lead singer right now, the band would not have sounded as good as they did with the current replacement. His voice had issues 20 years ago.

I don't agree, Pink Floyd was just as good if not better in 1994 than they were in 1977. Eric Clapton is much better than he was in his drug days of the 60's. The key part is how much are they willing to prepare for a concert tour, or are they just trying to cash in. The last Van Halen Tour is an example, with Michael Anthony gone Eddie had to improve how he played to make up for the deficits of his son playing bass, on "Hot for Teacher" where he realized his guitar was out of tune Eddie adjusted how he played the guitar for the rest of the song to make up for it being out of tune. So even when you get old you can perform well, if your willing to put in the time, but if it's just for a pay day, don't bother touring.

What band is NOT willing to put in the time???? And honestly what band is jut trying to cash in??? I sure as heck don't know of any, and if there are, that is a pretty F'd up band. Now don't get me wrong, some shows are better than others, but its not like the band is just going through the motion just to get a paycheck. Most bands really want to be there.

For Artists who play to get a check for one-Al Stewart. He reached his peak with "Year of the Cat". So in 1980 I saw him at the Paramont. He had his back up band as the opening act. Then he came on stage and did a half hour set since there was only about 800 people in the building and was basically doing the concert for free. Ever since then Al Stewart has been pushed back to playing small halls. Before he even had "Year of the Cat" he was selling out the Civic Auditorium as he put on a good concert for his fans. Back then the only hit he had was "Nostdradoums". Now he just tours to get the check.
