I'm starting to hear so many of these overplayed 80's songs on that station that its turning me off. This station no longer sounds like a true oldies station, it sounds like a Mix station.

I heard Tommy Tutone-8675309 on Khits today and I turned it off.
I think they are going in the wrong direction musically.

I have enjoyed K-Hits with the 60's & 70's. I feel the 80's just makes the station sound directionless. I heard "Small Town" the other night and thought the station flushed the 60's & 70's. I love the 80's, just not on a station that plays 60's. The style of music is too different. It may as well be Charlie.
Speaking of Charlie...I think Charlie should be the female Charlie, cuz of the PMS moodswings. I do find myself listening to Charlie the most these days. They have a very clean sound. Everyone else sounds distorted or muddy.

What I think really screws things up is that the original K-HITS marketing was "Super '60s and '70s." Throwing in music from the 1980s (or the 1950s) confuses listeners. I think that there should be an oldies format for Gen-Xers, incorporating 1980s music and maybe some Disco, but it certainly wouldn't be "Super '60s and '70s."

Why would you suggest K-hits to change their name to KISN FM, when they don't even mirror KISN???

Yeah Fresh, and where haven't I heard you say things like that before?

I know of some decent condominiums near my place that are up for sale. Nice places, ya know.

I found a Toshiba Satellite 430PRO laptop system at a yard sale last weekend for $10, but I'll gladly sell it to you for $100 if you want it....I have MS-DOS 6.22 on there right now......

(Didja know that at one time the Beatles were For Sale as well?)

why should K Hits copy other radio formats that are copies of other radio formats? Should every FM station only play contemporary? That would get boring. We have channel knobs on our radios don't we?

I think K-HITs should program the "" Greatest Hits of the Roman Empire after Tiberius and before the great reformation into Christianity circa 475 AD".

( speaking of the Lions Den )

Sounds like they're all MIXed up! Doh! Sorry

On second thought, sounds like we're livin' in Hooterville. Our poor ole Portland radio market is declining. Sorry to say.

Welcome to Eugene radio, in Portland!

I would put Steve Loid on in the mornings and have Jeff Thomas on in the afternoons. It seems to me that when KISN tried that it worked well.

They play too much 80's music. They should play less of that and more of the 50's songs in addition. I think that was why KISN did so well. Also KISN had some decen deejays.

Commercial Radio doesn't program to anyone over 55. I'm 55 and just about anything before 1962 is pretty vague for me. I know the songs as Oldies but I have a radio mentality. My wife is the same age and has no use for anything before 1964 except maybe, early Beach Boys. I suspect we'll be losing the mid-60s in the near future. Most of the jocks at K-Hits and Kool came from KISN-FM. When KISN did well, their audience was under 55.

I am a huge Beatles and Beach Boys fan but I think some Elvis once in a while might give that station more variety. Maybe they need to add to their playlist. I notice they repeat some songs over and over. I sure get tired of "More than a feeling" by Boston

The strange thing about this whole thing is that not long before KISN dropped pre-Beatles and added 70s material, the station was in the top 10 in(drum roll...)18-34! That's right, an entire generation that had grown up on those songs as Oldies!

Isn't that interesting. And the programmers probably thought KISN's listeners were too old, not too small.

Enjoyed K-Hits this morning, when a canned voice announced a countdown of some kind and said, "Number Ten (tympani)....Crosby Stills Nash and Young!" And they played "Cinnamon Girl." Now, correct me if I'm wrong...

Could someone please post an "Executive Summary For Wayne" thread?

Wayne, for now, let me just fill you in a bit*:

In the midst of a radio revenue meltdown, CBS, the owner of KHits and 5 other Portland Stations, has been making massive cutbacks & changes since this Summer. Two weeks ago CBS cut another 300 folks chain-wide.

CBS has announced they are selling 50 of their radio stations. While those 50 are not named specifically, it is widely accepted that the Portland properties are "on the block".

At KHits alone, several folks have been let go, including Dave Hood and Steve Lloid.

There's a lot more good information there, but we know your time is precious.
