Are this year's Presidential candidates saying much at all about what they think the United States needs to do stay competitive in today's global business climate? Have any specifics been given, such as naming industries or markets that are represent good opportunities? Is there any way to compete with the low cost, high volume manufacturing that is now associated with China?

More generally, what should the role of the Presidential administration or other elected officials be in shaping an economic direction for the country?

Hmmmmm, maybe they should do away with "NAFTA". It'd be a step in the right direction.

So, they should be talking about porkbellies, instead? :-)

My guess is eventually, every American will have a job in janitorial, service retail, or a call center. I try not to think about it.
