NOW be HONEST!!!!

If someone put a blindfold over your eyes, could you tell the difference between:

1) COKE VS PEPSI

2) 7up VS Sprite

3) Cherry Coke VS Wild Cherry Pepsi

4) Coke VS Caffeine Free Coke

5) Dr. Pepper VS Mr Pibb

6) Safeway "select" brand Cola VS Pepsi

7) Diet Coke VS Diet Pepsi

I had a friend of mine who made a 30 dollar bet with me, claiming that he could tell the difference between Coke and Caffeine Free Coke in a blind Taste Test.

"Bullshit" I told him. SO I put a blindfold on him and he did the taste test. Even if he REALLY couldn't tell the difference between Coke VS Caffeine Free Coke, he had a 50/50 chance of guessing correctly, but, HE GUESSED WRONG!!!!! LOL!

If someone put a blindfold on YOU, could you tell the difference between any of these??

yes to #1 & #7 maybe to #2 no to all the rest....

Many people could Identify A difference, but probably not tell which is which 100
percent of the time.....

BTW can I just take the partially blind test?

Oh yeah, I'll be able to tell the difference -- no doubt. Pepsi is just so sugary, Coke is not. RC Cola is the closest to Coke in taste. All the store brand colas are yuk!

Diet coke is easily identifiable over all other brands -- its drinkable without a rancid aftertaste. The others are not.

Dr. Pepper and Mr. Pibb -- easy. So is 7up and Sprite. 7up is "bright and sparkly", Sprite is sugary and "thick" as if it is a chemically created liquid.

However, bring rootbeer to me, I'll be of no help!

I would say yes to 1 and maybe 2. I don't drink the others frequently enough to know, so we would have to do the taste test to find out! This would be fun to do at our next PDXRadio get-together.

Another interesting taste test, though probably not one that we could conduct, would be amongst different regional versions of a single cola. Coca-Cola, Pepsi, and other internationally distributed soft drinks are mixed differently for different countries. When I was living in Chile, up until age 7, I remember that I loved Coca-Cola but hated Pepsi and 7-UP. Pepsi tasted slightly bitter and 7-UP had too much carbonation and very little flavor.

Than that settles it! Soda Fun at the next PDXRadio get together.
I'll bring the soda, who will bring the blindfold???

And don't worry, we won't ask you where you got the blindfold from. If its a kinky Souvenir from the bedroom, we promise not to interrogate you.

There is a decided difference between Coke and Pepsi, along the lines of black tea and green tea. I can't believe anyone wouldn't immediately be able to tell them apart. When it comes to the diet drinks, it gets a little trickier because some of the Coke products use the New Coke formula, which is similar to Pepsi.

I've been drinking soda regularly since I was a little kid. While most of my experience has been with the diet flavors (I have type one diabetes), I have had the regulars recently in my adult life as well due to an insulin pump that allows me to sample even high fructose corn syrup laden regular sodas. That said...

Since we are blindfolded, are the sodas poured out of the can into a cup? If they are, I might have a harder time.

1. Yes. Coke is based off cocoa. It has a unique flavor. Pepsi is based off lime for it's primary flavor.

2. 7-Up tends to be "crisper". Sprite is heavy like someone else already mentioned.

3. Haven't tried both of those.

4. Why would I drink a soda that doesnt have caffienne? And if it's diet it really is just flavored carbonated water... so what do I gain from drinking it?

5. I love Dr. Pepper. And yes there is a difference between these two sodas imo. I think Coca Cola just cut the Mr. Pibb brand didn't they? I thought I read something along those lines.

6. Dunno. Not enough experience with knock-off brands. (Yes I'm a soda snob) :-)

7. Ok this one I _really_ know the difference. Diet Coke out of the can has a distinct metallic aftertaste. Pick up a clean paper clip, put it in your mouth for 3 seconds then take it out... it wont be far off from Diet Coke out of a can's aftertaste. Diet Pepsi, out of the can, has no metallic aftertaste.

On a side note, Diet Coke with Splenda is the bomb. All the sugary taste with none of the calories.... mmm mmm mmm.
