His infantry buds will do the fighting. He gets to drive around colonels who do not go near the battles.

No kidding. It's serving. I get your point, Captaindan. But I don't think there are tons of cush jobs to be done in Iraq - including driving.

In support of the Fairness doctrine,

Biden's son is also of to Iraq to serve

...
....
...
...
...
...
...
as a lawyer.

Both meaning who? It's ok, sometimes, meaning gets lost on a message board.

I stand by my statement Someone has to....

Just like someone has to unload the planes, stock the px, cook the meals, fuel the trucks, tend the supply room, put up video and spin records for AFN, and yes, DO THE LEGAL WORK, along with all the other mundane non-combat support work that keeps a military together!
It's all SERVING! Hats off to 'em. I'd happily go and do support work that I am capable of doing, except seems like the military never could find a use for guys with one eye.

So, I'll accept your apology, and BTW, I'm an Indie, not a DEM.

Ok, are we good now?

And Al Gore served in Vietnam as a Journalist.
Remember when the right wing belittled that?

Serving is serving.
Besides, Family is off limits, remember?

I am proud of the Palin sons for volunteering to serve. I support them fully and pray for their safe return. The real issue is whether Sarah Palin has violated national security. In addition to the other brazen breaches of military protocol at the RNC, there was a glaring and potentially deadly mistake made in her speech and repeated all over the web. If the assertions by Votevets and others are correct, she may have put many more brave people in harms way.

Just like Matt Drudge risked the lives of British and Coalition forces in Afganistan by outing the Prince of England, she has also compromised our national security for a headline. Whether it was intentional or not, she put a target on the backs of soldiers and sailors sworn to serve side by side with her sons. Other politicians -- like John McCain and Joe Biden -- have sons in the service and are mum about their whereabouts and assignments. Not just because they value the safety of their children and the children of others, but because it is the law.

And that's exactly the right law to have.

I too have a great deal of pride over our enlisted brothers and sisters. It's not a small thing, it's not an easy thing, but it is a necessary thing.

Good on them.

(and we should have Zero issues taking care of these folks when their term of enlistment ends, however it ends)

Crossing that line of silence is really an abuse and lack of respect and perhaps some naivete in play. IMHO, just really bad form, that's all.
