Okay... so I was calling Jammin tonight at like 9:30 the phone rung for about 15mins and didn't get anyone on the phone! What is up with that?? So hood radio is voicetracked too? Guess the playhouse is the only "live" show on Jammin! Lisa get the fuck up out of jammin and take your ass back to The MOViN stations! And lets get a real PD that knows about hip-hop!!!

Somebody else on this board once said that radio today operates Monday through Friday, 9-5. If there were anyone in the building at 9:30 PM, it was probably the KUFO person and maybe the KLTH person.

I believe it was me that said radio keeps bankers hours, but it's only fitting since it's the financials that are invested in it. I'm surprised that there aren't all off the air on Sundays and holidays. "Today is Labor day. The stock market is closed, no mail delivery. Banks, the post office and radio stations are also closed."

So I guess radio did follow the lead of the financials.

If there were anyone in the building at 9:30 PM, it was probably the KUFO person and maybe the KLTH person. KUFO is on 1st Ave. KLTH is in the suite in the KOIN Building on 3rd. I would go as far to guess that at most stations, if anyone's there at 9:30 PM, it would be someone employed by the janitorial contractor.

As an on air person, one of the benefits I saw from working for a big corp was getting weekends and holidays off. Impossible to resist. Can't say it was best for listeners though...

Well I did something I haven't done in years- listen to the radio for a long period of time. Labor day weekend project was to paint our finished attic where our 15 year old has her bedroom. She along with one of her friends helped my wife and I paint. The girls picked the radio station to listen too which was the Buzz. I knew maybe 1/3 of the music and since I had nothing to compare it against it was decent, although some of the songs sounded the same to me. I did miss having a jock on the air. I even told my wife I would have been interested in voice-tracking a shift. Loads of local things happening this weekend that even with voice tracking would have brought a local feel to the station. That's my only feedback really. Now I'm back to my normal non-listening habit until the next paint job.

Chris said...."Loads of local things happening this weekend that even with voice tracking would have brought a local feel to the station." B-I-N-G-O!!!!!!! Simple concept, KEEPING THE LISTENER INFORMED!!!!!! Why do stations neglect this angle of broadcasting? HEY COLLEGE BOYS!!! think this might be a reason your listeners are drifting to other sources? Just because you get to wear a tie doesn't mean you have all of the answers. Everybody sing..... Where have all the listeners gone? Long time passing. Where have all the listeners gone? Long time ago............ Sorry preaching to the saved...... Those that can fix the problem don't read the PDX RADIO or Allaccess helpful hints section.
