Apparently he did pull the speech off pretty well last night!

Yeah, apparently.

More than 38 million viewers tuned in to watch his speech...more than the Opening Ceremony and, believe it or not, even more than the American Idol finale.

There is hope for this country yet.

I think some sort of bounce was a given. Then again at least he GOT at least a temporary bounce. Kerry seemed to get none in 2004...

Man are the stakes high for McCain next week.

The Democrats, (and you know how they all get along) manage to top the Chinese in pulling off a major world event without one single unplanned small event smearing the whole thing up.

I'm wondering who is going to fumble first next week.

Here's an article about the Nielsen ratings for Obama's speech:

(My Firefox spell checker still does not recognize "Obama" as a word. They really need to fix that!)

I think it's neat and all to toss around these polls, but seriously, check back in two weeks, one week after McCain's convention. And at that, let's see where the 50 state polls are, so we have an idea of the electoral vote contests.

Wonder which ones will be the swing states this year? I predict Florida will not be a swing state this year and will go solidly to McCain.

I predict Florida will not be a swing state this year and will go solidly to McCain.

I predict that a hurricane will leave the state in shambles while the current administration is shopping for moving boxes and condos in Dubai.

Florida, Florida, Florida will be a much closer contest than a solid GOP win.

There are a few battlegrounds to watch. Colorado is in play, as is Virginia, Ohio and Montana.

Cindy must be the luckiest girl in the whole USA.

National polls mean nothing. Electoral votes elect the president, and Obama has a superior advantage in the electoral math. Obama's not a gimme, but McCain has his work cut out for him.

More important than polls are new voter registration. Remember two years ago? The GOP got (in the words of Bush) wupped. The advantage in registered voters in the swing states and even some normally red states is a stronger indicator than polls.

My suggestion to you righties reading this:

Prepare yourself. Your party is going to reach new depths of despair when this is all over.
