My eleven year old cousin pointed out that there is a very prominant picture of a penis on the cover of the Disney movie "the Little Mermaid." I laughed it off until I looked closer at the cover and I'll be damned!
Someone must have been pissed off at Disney! Acording to some other people the word "Sex" is written in the dust clouds if you look really closely at the cover.

Boy, whoever drew the cover for "The little Mermaid" must have been a real HORN-DOG! He has subliminal sex messages all over the cover!

Sorry If this old news, but I just find it hilarious!

Your cousin is not the first to have noticed this. I remember hearing this discussed on the Jim Bohannon Show in the early 1990s, shortly after The Little Mermaid came out. Bohannon was a bit skeptical about the claim, asking, "Well, couldn't the same be said about smokestacks, chimneys, and similar structures?" One listener countered, "no it has all the wrinkles needed to make it clear that it's a phallic symbol." Sometime later, when The Little Mermaid came out on home video, I looked at the video cassette cover art and the claims of Bohannon's listeners were confirmed to my satisfaction!

I agree, but I think it should come from parents, who have the responsibility to teach them about it correctly (and without the entire discussion consisting of "children come from God").

This is not a new phenomenon in animation. Betty Boop flashed her beaver back in the Depression.

Those Betty Boop clips, even without the subliminal parts, definitely change my perception of 1930s entertainment! Where was the "righteous indignation?"

I think thats a lot different than someone intentionally drawing a huge cock on the cover of the Little Mermaid.

I knew it, Disney has ben corrupting our children for a long time!

That is the last time my daughter watches the movie "Lady and the Tramp". I don't even want to think what subliminal message is in that movie.

Treat your people well, and have few worries about phallic art!

IMHO, this is absolutely harmless and quite funny.

Where was the "righteous indignation?"

There was plenty to be sure. The steady perversion of common sense in the Hays Code screwed up movies for decades. Many of the same nonsensical quirky puritanical edicts were adopted into television when it began.

This is quite funny. Im wondering how much money you could get for owning an original copy of "the Little Mermaid" with the Penis on the cover. 80-90 bucks?? That sounds about right.
Than you have the Little Mermaid cover without the penis- 80-90 cents. Sound about right?
