I'm interested to know who has been on Portland Radio the longest. This Air Personality would currently be on Portland Radio and has consistently worked for this station. This Air Personality has never left the station since being originally hired. Who is KING of Portland Radio Longevity? And how many years at the station? Let's find out.

Does twenty-five years of continuous service put these two in the running? John Pitman has been on the air at KBPS-FM since 1983. Brandon Lieberman began hosting the weekly independent music show, Drinking from Puddles on KBOO that same year.

How about Iris, Marty, and Gloria at KGON? Marty has been at KGON since 1977 so that makes 31 years for him. Not sure about Iris and Gloria but they have been there for quite some time as well.

Darktemper: Gloria has been back a few times at KGON. Iris also left KGON for awhile. Marty Party on the other hand has been with KGON back to October 1977 as a weekender. I believe he never left. (This info coming from my KGON history of a few years ago.) Good Call! Joe ferguson: Les Sarnoff began at KINK in 1977 according to his bio. He was at KGON before this and I believe he's not left KINK since.

Craig, Les and I started in sales at the same time. It was 1984. I was at the then new K103 and Les was at KGON in sales. He decided he didn't want to be in sales. I believe he went back to KINK, on air in 1985. Also Terry, John Erickson wasn't there at the beginning at K103. The news was handled by Ms. Valerie Ring prior to John E's arrival. At least that's how I remember it. Someone else chime in if that's wrong.

"Barney Keep was on KEX from 1948 until 197?" From the "history" section: "An institution on Portland's airwaves, Barney Keep broadcast the morning show on KEX for an amazing 35 years, from 1944 to his final farewell, Valentines day 1979." But I think Craig_adams wants to list people that are currently on the air.

If Radiohustla/Djfresh is not the same Djfresh that was on Kpsu than I smell a lawsuit coming. Couldn't the real Djfresh sue the fake imposter Dj Fresh based on the grounds of libel? I'm thinking yes! This could become a very hairy situation if the REAL DJ FRESH finds out about PDX radio. Does anyone know if the Real Djfresh knows he has an imposter on PDX Radio pretending to be him??

Let's answer some questions first: Barney Keep (formerly on KXL) began on KEX 1944 to February 14, 1979. Bob Miller (formerly on WGNT) began on KEX 1979 to May 31, 2003. Lars Larson (formerly KPTV anchor) returned to KXL on May 20, 1997. John Salisbury (formerly KPTV anchor) began on KXL September 1, 1961 to January 1, 1986. Jim Howe (formerly on KCRE) began on KEX in January 1962 to June 2001. Mike Turner (formerly on KINK) returned on KGON in 1986 although Mike left KGON in August 1990 to become Operations Manager of KFXX. Mike returned to KGON by September 1993. Here's what we have so far: 1. Marty Party, KGON Oct 1977. 2. Sean Marten, KINK 1982. 3. John Pitman, KBPS-FM; Brandon Lieberman KBOO 1983. 4. Matt Jones, KKRZ March 1984. 5. Iris Harrison, KGON returned April 1984. 6. Les Sarnoff, KINK; John Erickson KKCW 1985. 7. Steve Leader, KXL 1986.

Yes, Mike Turner was KPAM-FM News Director from May 1971 to 1975. Before that, Mike had an overnight talk show on the Nation's 1st 24 Hour FM Talk Station, KLIQ-FM. Mike began his show on December 11, 1967. Bob Swanson (formerly on KING) began on KEX April 4, 1967 to April 1, 1994.

This thread is a real trip...in many ways. I actually started at KKRZ on Valentines Day of 1984. The station had not yet flipped to CHR, but was a short-lived AC format, called "The Rose." PD, Bill Ford showed me around the building on the afternoon of my interview, and then said; "OK, come back at midnight and board-op the overnight shift." And so it bagan. I've now been coming to work at 4949 SW Macadam, longer than I've lived anywhere in my life! In that time, I've been through: 2 studio relocates (my workspace) 6 ownership changes 8 GMs 9 PDs and countless air personalities It's been (and continues to be) the wildest, most exciting, and most frightening roller coaster I've ever been on.

Matt introduced me to the new digital technology when I was with Z100 (92-97). Using analogue and digital together was a trip too. Without Matt's guidance into this new technical realm I doubt I'd be where I am today. Matt also taught me about high end production that was apart of Z100's broadcasting legacy. Kudos Matt on your longevity and creative influence through these many years.

Matt...Jim Howe always blows away people when he tells them that during his 39 years with KEX he went through a full station relocation (from 5th & Lincoln to Macadam)...seven owners (Westinghouse, Golden West, Taft, Great American, Citicasters, Jacor, & Clear Channel); 9 general managers, and I think 15 program directors. But in all that time there were only three morning drive personalities: Barney Keep, Jimmy Holister and Bob Miller.

Broadway: have Joe Alcorn at KPDQ in 1975 as Operations Manager. Do you think Joe was on KPDQ before this point? What year did he retire? Matt: I snagged you from the earliest Z100 line-up I have which was March 1984. Couldn't remember if you were on Z from the beginning so I played it safe. I'll make the change in an update if we get more names added.

Bill, years ago, before Dan Rather took over the evening news, "The Primetime Network TV Guide(shortened for brevity)had paragraph after paragraph explaining the changes on the newscasts of NBC and ABC. CBS had 2 sentences that went something like, "Douglas Edwards began the CBS Evening News in 1948 and was replaced by Walter Cronkite in 1962. They are the only people to ever hold the job."

Craig this isn't related but the name Art Kirkham just now came to my mind. He was the announcer for a long time at KOIN tv and radio but I have an old photo of a railroad station where he was the ticket agent. Another name is Bob Anchetta who has been in radio since 1970 and still is on KINK on Sundays. Ted Rodgers was a dj from 1961 until the late 1990's. And Roger Smith worked at KAAR in the early 80's and is on KPDQ and is a friend of mine.
