I agree. It seriously is the same stale 5 songs non-stop. It is absolutely ridiculous. The station is unlistenable. Not to mention the station sounds half assed with no afternoon jock.

That station is a MESS!!
Still no afternoon jock, no weekenders, no nothing. Afternoons on jammin are completely lifeless with no jocks just music. Not to mention, they play the same 5 songs over and over and over. The only time they have any variety on that station is sunday night, than they go back to the same 5 songs.

Knowing CBS, they probably fired Starchile ( I don't know that for a fact!) Who knows, he may be on Vacation or he may have been let go. Who knows. I do know that he was doing a live shift on sunday night with an actual dj spinning records.
Gotta love radio, everything live and local usually vanishes.

Jammin's real problem is Timin'.

They got sold/moved up the dial right before CBS decided to sell in many markets, and I wouldn't be surprised if Portland turns out to be on the chopping block. That almost always means frozen budgets and zero hires.

Jammin 1075 is the only hip hop station in the country to not have an afternoon show. This is just weird! All music no jocks=failure!

While listening to other radio programming Sunday night, I briefly tuned to 107.5 and heard Starchild. Wasn't tuned in for long enough to guess if live or VT.

Yeah he was on last night.
People are complaining about Jammin 1075 and I don't blame them. The variety on Jammin is Very poor.

Gee whiz. Fresh/hustla posted twice in the same thread he started.

Simply amazing.

However, I still have no idea what he said. He needs to read the grammar police thread and take notes.

he said he was listening to radio in the hood, but the djs didn't talk into the microphone, so the music drowned them out.

Maybe they didn't flip the mic button to the on position. Usually a toggle type switch where moving it to the right creates a circuit where the microphone is in a mode that allows for transmission of spoken word in the case of the aforementioned DJs. (on). This may also be an up and down toggle or a push button type of system depending on the design.

but roger, if you have a radio job right now, you don't want to jump ship into a possible sinking ship. IMO. that's why i didn't move around a lot when i worked in pdx. now if your on the beach...go for it.

But for those without a radio job - a sinking ship is better than no ship at all.

How do we know that Jammin is a sinking ship?? It sounds like Kufo and KINK have more of a chance of getting new owners than Jammin. Infact I didn't think Jammin was even on the list. I would bet money that if a station gets sold off it will be KUFO or kink.

It is a bit odd that they still don't have an afternoon jock, which does make me raise a few eyebrows of what the future holds with Jammin. That station really needs jocks on the weekend also.

no radio job. the last part of my post is missing. It read

....."of course jammin is kind of young and urban for most of those I know who are looking, so it depends on if you know of an older sounding station for sale."

If Jammin still has no jock in the afternoon in 2 months, than I think its pretty safe to say that Jammin is over. Ill give them 2 more months to see if they can get their act together. I'm not counting them out quite yet. I'm more curious what the future holds for KUFO!

Do you think CHR-Rhythmic format will work in Portland in a predominately vanilla town?

E_dawg, if you remember there used to be a station called Jammin 95.5 that was on the air for 10 years. Remember that station? And There are a TON of white boys who listen to Rap music. So saying that the Vanilla people never listen to hip hop is incorrect!

With all the comments about Jammin' only playing 5 songs, I decided to investigate. According to Yes.com, there are at least 100 songs in their playlist because they list a top 100, the usual number for any station! I picked a song at random, to see how many times it played yesterday and it turned out to be their #1 song. In 14 hours, it played 12 times. It seemed to repeat about every 70 minutes or so. There was a hangup in the system so I was only able to get listings for after 10AM.

Smoochie,

Only music after 10am anyways. Playhouse doesn't have to play the list. They usually only play a small amount of the song.

Similar to the OLD top 40 programming. My last station was "todays country" and the top 5 repeated every 2 hours.......

And I care.......how??

Yesterday you screwed yourself over big-time in the credibility department in this thread, Fresh. Why or how should I even believe what you write now?

It would really behoove you to just stop while you are ahead.

Motozak2,
Thanks for translating the Fresh posts to English.
However, after reading the English version, I agree with you that ..... why should I care?

However, it is kinda nice to see that he keeps his comments about a subject to one thread and can post there more than once, even thought they don't make a lot of sense.
