What the FUCK??? It looks like they fired Bozyk on KUFO! His picture is taken off the website. What a loss, Bozyk was BY FAR my favorite air talent, he was conversational and just plain awesome. thats too bad! Just goes to show you that NOBODY is safe from getting fired, its too bad the good ones always get fired. It was Stacey Lynn a few months back, and now Bozyk, Totally unexpected!

I didn't understand WHY CBS brought over the Dave Hood Morniong show??? That was a stupid move. I liked the station before when it was Dave Mckay in the morning. Im sure the New morning show is killing Cbs's budget on top of it, which means more jocks will be fired. I Hate radio!

It looks like they fired Bozyk on KUFO! Confirmation from the R&R Website today:
quote:The CBS Budget Yacht of Unhappiness has cruised into port at CBS Radio Active Rocker KUFO/Portland, OR, where Dan Bozyk exits the APD/MD/middays throne after almost five years there. [...] PD Chris Patyk will absorb MD duties like a Selector sponge; for now, the Rotating Wheel of In-House Meat will fill middays, and we hear an announcement on a permanent replacement should be coming soon.
Hey Bozyk, if you're reading this, I enjoyed listening to you, and best wishes that you find something better soon!

This is just plain sad. Live local radio is all radio has left that is unique to the medium. Without it, as technology progresses, there will be no audience. I already have a vast collection of music. I listen to familiar and stale tunes because there is a person I like listening along with me and sharing news, a joke and a bit about themselves. A turntable is a turntable. A disc is a disc. A jukebox is a jukebox. A stream is a stream. A Pod is a Pod. Just things. Radio is People or it dies.

Perhaps Dennis will step up and do Mid-days? Ha Ha, just joking! Perhaps a simulcast between KINK and KHITS, they could alternate, one AAA song, then, one oldie song. Imagine the savings!

Shocked that they pulled the plug on a big time morning show....Especially when they brought people in from out of market to get the great show. Jeff is a good jock but not a morning show guy....Steve Loid would be better or bring McKay back.

Perhaps someone would look outside of the same old tired names that always come up and try reaching down to some of the smaller surrounding markets. Who knows, you might actually find some very good talent, and bring new life into a dead city.

CBS is divesting stations here and cutting expenses prior to the announced sale. What is truly amazing is that the behind the scenes sales activity has been leaked to key agency people as "confidential" information. It's not being leaked by CBS people, rather the group that is picking up the stations being traded off. We confirmed the information from at least two different agencies in town and decided to post what we have been told. Possibly it is all a hoax. But the level of slease factor is truly amazing to us. And we are being asked on a daily basis to invest tens of thousands of dollars into this decaying business.

All Dave Hood had was a set of deep radio pipes with no mojo on air at all. He should be locked in a production room reading copy. A morning show needs personality. He had none.

According to the Water Cooled Newsletter, there's a list of CBS stations up for sale and all of Portland's are on the list except KXJM and KCMD, which led them to believe there was already a buyer(s) for those 2 stations. Wouldn't it be funny if Rose City bought Jammin'?

People want music on the 10am slot, not a bunch of verbal diarrhea. People still want to hear rock music on a rock station, believe it or not. Bringing Emerson over would be the Kiss of death for kufo.

I keep thinking about those who have just been blown out. I know many of you have been there too. Dave, Dan and Carol were doing great work in a business that is on the skids. None of them deserved the treatment they got, after all they were hired and asked to join the organization they were part of. They did what they were asked. They made money for their company. Meanwhile their company...

It makes me sick to turn om Kufo and not hear Bozyk on in the middays. While I've never met the guy, I have great respect for his on air work and I always enjoyed listening to him on Kufo. Never met Carol ,but I've known people who have worked with her and said she was one of the most genuine, nicest ladies in radio. Why does it always happen to the good guys and gals?

It happens to everyone, JT. Good and bad alike. It also sucks for their coworkers, who now have extra work added to their day, making it very difficult to perform any of their tasks at 100%. Everyone loses in situations like this.

I think its odd that they fired the MD at KUFO. My guess is some major changes will be coming soon and maybe a format switch. If Kufo gets new owners I betting they will reformat the entire station.

" Bringing Emerson over would be the Kiss of death for kufo." I disagree. I'm not saying that it would obviously be a stroke of genius. But it's not imposssible to see something like Emerson at KUFO. Nor is it impossible to see how it COULD work. Whatever happens, I would like to see him remain on the air. ...and I would like a pony. Please.

Ick- please No Emerson on Kufo. Kufo should just leave things the way they are. They continue to Kick 94.7's ass in the ratings so I wouldn't mess with the station too much. Plus their last book was not too shabby. If it ain't broke, DON'T FIX IT~!!!!!!!!!

Radio is People or it dies. Now, sell that idea to the money boys..... I see the cuts, and I see the downward trend continuing...... So that doesn't seem to be working....... I still think it was the dereg thing that hasstened the decline. Just because you can successfully run 1, or 7 stations, doesn't mean you can handle hundreds in the same manner.... Local control.. put good people in and let them go. Radio has too many yes men in place So with what little said, In fact let's start a business. The CONSULTANTS. and some catchy slogans "We'll tell you what you are doing wrong" "It isn't ALL ABOUT THE MUSIC." "Connect with your audience, put real live local focused people on the air." "Radio, Better than your I-Pod because we have people" "Radio, Wake up with a friend. And not one of those generic out of market pseudo-celebrity friends either, wake up with a real, live, local, friend...... "share your workday with ______ your live local friend" Can't sleep? Neither could________, so we gave (him/her) their own show to keep you company overnight" "Stuck on third shift? _______ too. Why not keep each other company"

ANY PROGRAMER WHO USES THAT SAYIING ON HIS STATION NEEDS TO BE KICKED TO THE CURB!!!
