As of last Friday, 94.9 Jamz is running without the Playhouse! Apparently, Eugene didn't really embrace the show.

Good for them. The Playhouse is a joke.

How's that bachelors degree Bonger? Is it in a frame yet? Is it placed on a mantel above the tv?

As of this evening, the billboard on Coburg Rd. is still promoting "Morning Insanity with The Playhouse" on 94.9 Jamz!

They won't change that billboard until there is a new client for the billboard. So the show and the station still get exposure even if the
public has no clue. Even if the rental has expired, free advertising for both. Diamond Peak must love that!

Eric B. is mysteriously missing from 94.9 Jamz, along with the website, and MySpace page. What's going on?

I’ve seen the morning show concept evolve
( and de- evolve, for that matter) for the past 30 + years, and although PK and gang work hard on doing the playhouse , the honest truth is that the days of the “ morning madness” or “ morning zoo” type morning show is a stale concept. PK would be wise to eliminate most of the staff, and re tool the show towards a different ( aka smarter) demo.

Just an old programmers pennies in a jar.

I agree with Beano that I am out of the demo, however my assessments come from several years in the business. I’m not knocking P.K. He works hard, and has been successful; at least in the past. However, huge morning shows, that eat up a lot of money are definitely a thing of the past. You really don’t need 7 people to do an entertaining show. ( however, I will also say that the two guys and a side chick that laughs at anything morning show is cliché and out dated as well)
I heard P.K. when he filled in for Lars Larson a year or so ago, and it was *just*him. I must say I was marginally impressed; must have been a daunting task. I think that if PK did a stripped down, smart, topical, fast paced show, that was targeted at a more mature audience, he’d become very successful. The Playhouse format is a dead end.

Once again, just an OLD ( 59 years and counting!) programmers pennies in the jar.

I still enjoy the playhouse, and yes, Im in the upper end of the demo. The show is entertaining, its fast paced and it doesn't spend too much time on one topic, it moves fast. This is Radio, shows come and go nothing lasts forever.

94-9 Jamz is now running the most basic, low budget liners. Eric Brown (PD) is the voice of the new liners, which simply say "94-9 Jamz" with some sound effects mixed in. It sounds like the station will indeed be sold off, and blown up, which is a real shame.

If it was done the right way (good sales people and on-air content) it would have survived

Got to give some respect to Eric B. for even coming to Eugene and trying to turn Jamz around...worked for Eric at KMEL back in the day and he is a solid PD and he returns calls and emails! With Jamz limited signal strength and the already piss poor sampling via Arbitron for the 18-34 demo ..there is only so much you can do. It's my belief that if Jamz would have had a compeatable signal that KDUK's #'s would not be as nearly strong.

Too bad there are no spots left available in Eugene to actually compete with KDUK.

I heard Eric B. on the air this afternoon, playing about 40 minutes of continuous old skool cuts. The end of "Jamz" must be near.

94-9's weak signal, along with the lack of big talent, made it impossible to outperform KDUK. However, I would still consider "Jamz" to be a success, thanks to Eric's tireless effort. The bottom line is, the owner doesn't really care about radio, or the great format he chose. It was all about making money, and 94-9 Jamz wasn't going to raise that much cash.
