KOPB, with a 6.7. Call it a 6.9, combined with KOAC.

KBPS-FM has a 3.4. KMHD a 1.7.

I didn't see it listed this time. OMI posted this link, which requires some navigation:

KBOO's not even on the report/site, meaning one of two things:
1. Didn't register any ratings.
2. Isn't a member or whatever of the website/group.

K-Love/Air 1 stations used to show up in a lot of communities, then all suddenly disappeared from the ratings.

I think if you don't subscribe/pay for service your numbers won't show up there.

Stations come and go from that list. I think it's sometimes just an oversight. KBOO sometimes shows up.

I was impressed by KBPS-FM's showing. That may be their best ever. Must be all the flamenco music they have in hot rotation.

KBPS-FM has never been better. Much of the credit for this success should be given to their Music Director and longtime host, John Pitman. Their standard has always been high, but this is a special time for that station.

Chances are, community-based radio progamming and non-commercial, non-profit radio isn't worthy for rating points. Because they don't find their existence to be driven by competition. Though I do know that KBOO mgt. has done a little program manuevering - their suppossed listenership is down....

At a community station, it would be hard for the management to justify the buying of one of these ratings reports. If they did, the volunteers would likely be upset that (1) the money could have been spent on something better and (2) data from the report will be used to single out underperforming programs.

In my experience, when you have any broadcast facility, such as community radio, some university radio stations, or cable access television, that allows virtually anyone to come in and have control over a bit of the programming, things get political very quickly. Once people come into such and organization and get on the air, they seem to become paranoid that the station management could be working against them or that other shows/people at the station are better liked by the management. The mentality is almost like, "we've staked our claim here; this is ours; stay away!"

Exactly Alfredo_t.

The same sort of thing happened with the Bite of Portland... Same vendors, same everthing every year and declining attendance... so they had to blow it up and start over as the Bite of Oregon... There was resistance but it had to be done, and it was.

They tried to do the same thing with the Rose Festival a few years back but the politics that be would not allow it to happen...

Feifdomes to be defended at all costs. any move toward the greater good of the station (or the market) is a threat.

KBOO will have a hard time undoing what they have.

I wish them luck though. They have a ton of potential.

KBOO was not mentioned in the ratings (including the public stations) because it failed to get 5 minutes of listening in at least 5 diaries over the 12 week period, or at least 1/10th of 1% (or 1/1000th) of the listening reported in the Portland Metro Area, whichever is SMALLER!!!

Ratings performance has nothing to do with whether you buy the right to USE the Arbitron numbers. Everyone is included equally. Only subscribers are permitted to quote them publicly.

Those of you in radio should really know this stuff.

One very comical, yet frustrating, example of this "fiefdom" mentality was a PCM (cable access TV) producer's meeting that I attended a few years ago. One point of contention was that PCM had used the word "client" as a generic term for anybody who uses the PCM facilities. Some of the producers were quite agitated because they felt that the use of this term represented either a "commercialization" of PCM or an insult to the creative and artistic abilities of the users of PCM. Overall, I was a bit flabbergasted by the poor decorum of this meeting and the overall attitude that people who do shows on cable access are entitled to the facilities and to the broadcast time.

I think that part of the problem is that these people view themselves as activists who are fighting against amorphous forces of "big media," "corporations," "money," "people who want fame," etc. In their minds, they represent the little guy and anybody or anything that tries to impose or even suggest a change on them, no matter how trivial, represents one of the boogiemen.

To quote a famous deceased Portland cable access producer, I'll guess that people are just "too busy and too serious!" :-)

Thanks for the kind words Littlesongs! It is a great station to work for.

And yes Eastwood, a 3.4 is the best rating in station history, but the big news is that we had a 3.4 last book too. The format averages a 2.1 nationally.

Bach, Mozart & Beethoven for everyone! My treat.

Congratulations are in order for everyone at KBPS-FM! Here at (classical) KING-FM in Seattle we came in with a 3.2 12+ in the Spring Book and I know how much work it takes. KBPS-FM sounds great!
