At first, I thought that this article was some kind of a spoof, given that the Police Chief is named Dicks and somebody else in the story has the last name Johnson!

He needs to throw all those plumbers in the slammer too. I think a few broadcast engineers may need to watch their backs as well.

Didn't we go through this in the 50's or 60's? I remember my Dad telling me about how they used to do that same thing. Thought it was stupid then, think it's stupid now.

This is a social norm problem that's not easily fixed by laws. In fact, what the chief just did was enter into a power struggle with the people wearing the pants!

He is highly likely to lose and lose big.

So, how to write the law? No underwear showing? Really? What if it's an accident, or an artifact of how somebody is shaped? Which layer? Can there be more than one? How about colors?

What if somebody makes a one piece pant-underwear thing? Does that count? Does it count only if one is wearing underwear, or not, or always?

If it counts, then are we not regulating the kinds of clothes people can make and wear? Is that ok?

And then we have what's decent. Is it the color, or being able to actually see the cheeks? What about women that show the cheeks? Are we gonna have a war on ass cheeks now? What about attractive ones? Still gonna bitch? Probably not.

It goes on and on and on.

This will pass, just like it passed the last time. It will pass when something new takes hold and a generation wants to differentiate itself from the previous ones.

When these baggy ass people get shunned, told no when asking for jobs, laughed at, etc... then they will pull the pants up. It's that simple.

The reality is that some of them never will, and that's just how it is.

So we've got a chief making the news. The upside is that maybe more people will start talking about this whole thing and that social pressure might get some pants pulled up.

That will only happen if enough of us think it's lame. Could be that we don't! We are about to find out either way.

Here is the thing I don't get. You get shit if your pants hang too low exposing the butt crack. And on the other side of the spectrum you get shit if you your pants ride too high.

Call me Steve Urkel or nerd or whatever but I have always worn my pants high. But none the less I get shit for it at times. No big deal though as I am comfortable with who I am.

There is however a bigger problem in this world then pants exposing crack or pants riding too high.

And that is the huge part of the overweight/obese population in this country who insist on wearing pants with the shirt tucked in allowing for the gut to overhang the waist area. Its sick, silly, and wrong.

Now I am not one to tell other people what a fashion faux paus is but this to me is the ultimate in self humilation.

If a person is fat and overweight, they should not be tucking in their shirt! That is stupidity. Plus if a person is fat and overweight, please don't wear spandex shorts.

An obese woman was in front of me at Safeway the other day. She was wearing Spandex shorts and this hippo must have weighed close to 400 pounds. And guess what was in her shopping cart?
Tv dinners, Mostly the swanson "Hungry man" dinners.

Well, this is America and people have a right to their choices. I suppose we wouldn't want it any other way, right people?

Considering the fact that over 50% of the people in this country are obese, put your blinders on because you are going to see a lot of beached whales. Just deal with it!

Justin I am one of those beached whales! I can laugh about it, but I can also actively do something about it. After all my years of being fairly sedintary I am finally realizing that I need to be MORE active.

Personally if I am going to wear my jeans sagging (and I will admit, I do quite often) I typically wear an undershirt PARTICULARLY TUCKED IN!!

I'd much rather have people see that than my boxers...........

(See, there are ways you can be "cool" and still retain *at least some* modesty at the same time.)
