One sight that always scares the hell out of me is when I get next to some little old lady hauling ass down the freeway. Picture this, 80-ish, frosty white hair, can barely see over the dash, seat all of the way up and one inch from the steering wheel, driving some big land yacht, hauling ass. |

OK, I promise this is not a Rick Roll video but is indeed the ultimate old lady driver video. |

The scariest thing I have noticed alot lately along I-5 is the homeless/transients with there bicycles and or shopping carts walking along the shoulders of the interstate. I am shocked and surprised that more is not being done to get these people off I5 as they seem to be a complete hazard and threat to themselves and others not to mention the fact that they almost always slow the flow of traffic almost to a crawl. |

Oregon is one of the few states where it is legal to walk along the freeway. Never understood it, and I had some near misses when I lived in the state. One time I was coming around a blind curve on I-105 in Eugene with an exit right around the curve. Two pedestrains right in the exit. A disaster waiting to happen. |

I am pretty sure that I have seen those "Non-motorized vehicles prohibited" signs along the I-5 on-ramps. Other than the speed limits, don't the regulations of the Interstate Highway System fall under federal control? |

I believe there are federal standards on the Interstate system regarding things like lane width, markings, etc., but issues like walking along the shoulder fall under state control. In California and Washington, and I believe most states, walking along the shoulder of a freeway is illegal. |

"How about drivers who stop anywhere along the freeway to get something out of the trunk, or worse, to relieve themselves." |

The ones that cause the problems are those who pull off to the side in the dry grass and their hot exhaust sets it on fire. Stay on the pavement idiot! |

So, in those illegal states, your car breaks down and what? |
