I went to The Police concert last night at the Clark County Amphitheater. It was an amazing night and an amazing show. Sting's voice sounds just the same and Copeland absolutely banged the hell out of the drums. He was a machine. The setlist: Message In A Bottle Walking On The Moon Demolition Man Voices Inside My Head When The World Is Running Down Don't Stand So Close To Me Driven To Tears Hole In My Life Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic Wrapped Around Your Finger De Do Do Do, De Da Da Da Invisible Sun Can't Stand Losing You Roxanne King Of Pain So Lonely Every Breath You Take Next To You They definitely but a "live" touch on several of the songs. My only complaint is that they didn't play Synchronicity I or II.

I was there, too. It was a great show. I hate the venue for personal reasons I won't go into, but the sound was great, the huge video screens made the distance to the artists on stage irrelevant, and the Police played their music as if they still had something left to prove, which they don't. Sting rearranged a few vocals down out of the highest registers, but sang his stuff with a feeling you don't normally get out of infinitely successful performers on a retro tour. No, these guys aren't going through the motions, they are kicking ass and taking names. Each one of the three is a show unto themself. They don't miss notes. I noticed once they skipped a half beat and you see the cheek of Sting react, whether as to whose fault that hiccup was will probably be post concert conversation amongst them, but this was a near musically perfect display of talent. Glad I took in the show. They won't be coming around again.

Yes Synchronicity II was missing, but that was because of the crowd. Last year in Seattle they did the same play list, but with Synchronicity II included, but the crowd didn't suck like it did at Clark County. In Seattle when they played Message in a Bottle, the band lowered their volume to see if the crowd was going "I'll send and SOS to the world...." In Seattle they did and the band was charged up. At Clark County the crowd did not, so it appears the Sync got dropped. So it would appear good crowds can charge up a Rock Group, but that's not what happened on Friday. PS getting in and out of there sucks, why don't they just move the whole venue to some other place, like Vancouver Mall.
