My Son Tyler re-opened Nicks Famous Coney Island on SE Hawthorne.....Drop in & ask for Ty. If your in radio he will only accept cash! heh heh.........anyway....Its open and its damn good.
Try a double coney! He has loved the place since he was a little kid, so this is a dream come true to get a historic haunt in Stumptown. They are open 7 days a week/ late.

This should be the location for the next PDX Radio get-together. Maybe the Stoner can make a cameo appearance. :-)

Maybe Stoner could start doing LIVE broadcasts At Nicks Famous Coney Island. He could take the place of the now Defunct Rock and Roll cafe.

when a oldies station wants to let this old hack do his thing without a music list playing the same 150 songs over & over and allow Dirty Dave & I the freedom to have some fun on the radio. Don't hold your breath! I would have to say the #1 compliment from listeners of the old Kisn show was that they heard songs that never get airplay....Harlow & Minck were smart enough to allow a diet of this on the air and listeners really seemed to enjoy it.

I MISS KISN AND THE STONER SHOW!! There's no where else that Dirty Dave can use all that useless knowledge!! ;- ) His head is overflowing with artists, dates of release, record labels, etc. We've got to get him help soon!! Bring back the oldies format!! I'll be listening and enjoying a coney at Nicks!!

Kool is about as close to Oldies as we're likely to ever get again! Maybe, if you pay them enough money... :-)

I always ate at Roake's, but have heard of Nick's. Both places will be on my "to-do list" when I come home next summer.

Hey Stoner,
I stoped by for a dog the other day and I gotta say those were some nice looking "Hotties" working at Nick's. Your son must be doing all the hiring! He's got great taste in women:-)

Oh, and the food was excellent too!

U gotta wonder about a restaurant that gets the best reviews for the waittresses. Like that old backhanded review of a broadway show -- they left humming the seenery.

Stopped by again tonight. It was packed. They have a great stereo system in there. It was all Elvis when I was in. Cool.

Stopped for lunch yesterday...the famous Coneys are incredible. Had a double. The dogs were fresh, hot and had that 'crunch' that really great dogs have. Coney meat was tasty (spicy!) and the shredded cheese and diced onions were fresh and plentiful.

I love me some dogs - these are top notch.

The Mac salad was fair. Perhaps it's a legacy thing, not for me.

Good selection of other sandwiches and wings and whatnot.

Nick's really is a great neighborhood hang-out now. Huge HDTV's for games. Cold beers and good food. Same space, but WAY cleaner and brighter than it's been for years. Decades maybe. Booths and stools and a few tables.

Ty has dropped some coin in here bringing this place back to life. Best of the old, some great up to date touches. Make a point of checking it out.

I think a PDXRadio.com get together here is a great idea.

Now excuse me. I have to go run 30 miles. :-)
