I need to rant. I don't do that *too* often and I really need to now.

This is all about "Dual-Discs". You might have seen them--they come in an oddly-shaped hard to open plastic box that can be easily broken if it isn't opened properly, and the discs themself are proudly advertised as being a "CD on the one side and a DVD disc on the other".

Possibly my biggest nitpick about the Dual-Disc format (note the use of quotation marks surrounding the "CD" there) is its compatibility--or lack thereof--with my equipment. First off, if I am to spend almost $5 more for a title than if it were on a regular, industry-standard redbook audio CD, I expect that it will run properly in *all* of my CD players.

I had some trouble getting "Running with Scissors" to play properly on my old 98SE computer. I even still have trouble getting it to play in Mandriva using Kaffeine and Amarok. Apparently it has something to do with how the data portion is written on the disc. (If you put the RWS CD in a computer, you can find a Quick-Time formatted video file of some stuff from a documentary he made in 1996.)

Plays just fine on my audio CD players tho. Weird.....

(Yes, I see the irony in that statement.)

Oh and Darktemper--it's really all about the Pentiums, didn't'cha know that? ;o)

The very first concert I ever attended was Weird Al's "Bad Hair Day" concert at the CC Fair in 1996. That year in particular was hellish for me with just barely entering Junior High the following month and my other Grandmother having been diagnosed with lung cancer two months beforehand! Quite a welcome escape, and the 10-minute long treatment he/we gave "Yoda" near the end was awesome. Of course, my parents thought me as somewhat strange for joining in, but I didn't really care either way--it was a much-needed diversion from reality.

Oh yeah, the concert was panned by the Columbian the next day (of course) makng a big tadoo of how loud it was. One guy they interviewed claimed he could hear it clearly at his place in La Centre......of course, this was also several ages before they put the Amphitheatre in.............. ;o)
