This past Saturday we pinned a piece of mail out for the postman. Usually, we use the local big blue mailbox, or hand it to the carrier when he comes up the steps, but time did not allow it.

On Sunday morning, a very nice couple came to the door and returned the letter. It had blown away and found itself in their yard. This was a very kind thing as the envelope contained a college loan check.

It was a small thing for our new neighbors to do, but it meant a heckuvalot to me and my girlfriend. We will not make the same mistake again, and we are glad to have met some new friends.

Since we have been concentrating on the worst aspects of human nature in our latest threads, it is easy to wonder if good folks still exist. So, I have a question. What kind thing has a stranger done for you lately?

In the past few years I’ve gone through some thoroughly life changing events. Without going into the details, the people who orchestrated this process saved me in ways that are incalculable. It hasn’t always been an easy relationship, but for reasons known only to a special few, we have stuck it out and we are all the better for it.

A nice lady found, and picked up Baby M's "Croc", turned around and went backwards to find a kid with one pink shoe on; I had no clue she'd thrown it out since I was pulling her in a wagon. I also would've had no idea where it was...

People that let in one car (namely mine), in front of them.

Littlesongs thank you for starting this thread this community needs it.

Kudos’ to the two skilled carpenter's who not only worked their craft on our recent porch remodel but how they used good communication skills in explaining their work and answered all our questions with integrity.

To the painters of our other major house project. Who had to deal with some not so wonderful weather conditions but nonetheless worked through them. They were very cognizant of our property and plants around the house. They showed kindness by respecting our property and also for showing great business integrity. And man does the house have that "wow" factor.

To the woman who called me from the community center this afternoon about a suggestion I put in the suggestion box and how they are going to implement that idea. Her gratefulness made me feel I was apart of a solution. Great feeling.

Thank you to Little for this thread.

Thank you to the very nice man at Airport Costco who helped me load an entire full sized truck bed full of Gatorade, soda, and various other heavy things in 90 degree weather. He said he saw my very berry sundae on the cart and didn't want it to melt. Then he took my flatbed cart back to the store.

Hero of the Day :-)

We are having a struggle moving. One contributor to the cause fell through, basically draining the funds I had for getting it done in a timely way.

So, we are mostly moved! And that's good.

What's bad is I'm doing a lot of ugly trips between places, and things are gonna take a while.

My former neighbors, a group of Russian immigrants, took a weekend and cleaned up the place, took out garbage and just did what they could to help move things along. This was just HUGE to me. I've lots to do, but the perception of it just changed for the better with that nice bit of help!

Most of them don't speak English. Some do, and we've talked over the years. Their whole extended family is there, just as ours is with us. (grand parents) We've enjoyed being neighbors, despite the barriers.

When I arrived, they simply said, "good family neighbors do this" We are making them home made Jam, Cookies and other goodies for the next weekend!
