George Carlin, the F*cking Man, dead at 71.

Dark day for comedy.

Some might say, 'What does this have to do with radio?'

Carlin had a profound influence on radio, according to KGW:

When Carlin uttered "The Seven Words You Can Never Say On TV." at a show in Milwaukee in 1972, he was arrested for disturbing the peace. And when they were played on a New York radio station, they resulted in a Supreme Court ruling in 1978 upholding the government's authority to sanction stations for broadcasting offensive language.

A damn tragedy if you ask me. One of the last true comics.

Bonger: You don't know the George Carlin history. He was a disc-jockey long before we knew him as a Comic. Carlin began his Radio career at KJOE Shreveport in July 1956. Then moving to KXOL Fort Worth in 1959.

How Radio Changed My Life, by George Carlin.

Craig: I do know the Carlin history, the point of the post was his "profound influence" on radio. I'm not sure his radio show in '56 did much for anyone but him.

Apologies for not including his entire bio, but since you know EVERYTHING about EVERYTHING, I'll leave that to you.

WBAI and George Carlin were remembered in yesterday's New York Times.

Remember, the world will be a better place if we "Make F*ck, Not Kill".
