Isn't it a bit weird that people like the smell of their own farts, yet when someone else passes gas, its the most disgusting smell ever.

When I go to the gas station, I LOVE THE SMELL OF GAS! It smells so good, yet when I tell other people about it, they think im odd.
Am I crazy, or do you also like the smell of gas at gas stations?

Another smell I love is the smell of fingernail polish remover and paint thinner.
What are some smells that you love, but others hate??

Justin, gas used to smell even better back in the days of leaded fuel. Seriously, today's gasoline isn't even close. Much deadlier to sniff, but much better smelling.

(I just keep thinking about all the times I siphoned that old leaded gas by sucking on the hose to prime the siphon, and caught a mouthful. My blood must be toxic by now.)

Oh! And I love the smell of a good backyard burn...I have many hats and shirts with burn holes from the flying ashes.

I like markers --always have.

Yep, leaded gas was the best.

Campfires too.

Don't know if it's a hate thing for others, but I also love the smell of the deep woods, right about mid-day, summer time. If one is close to a stream or spring, that's the best.

Fried Eggs, Bacon, Hash Browns, all cooked on a coleman stove while camping. Nothing smells better or tastes better than cooking breakfast in the crisp clean outdoor air. And then you get to wash it all down with ice cold milk from the cooler that was sitting on the ice block all night. MMM mmmm Good.

There are good ones in this thread. I strongly concur with a few of 'em.

A sweaty woman fresh from a long hike, bike ride or other intense physical activity.

Coffee burnt in a percolator, baking bread, roasting meat and fresh sliced fruits and vegetables.

Vacuum tubes, the faint smell of fish from quickly winding 2" tape, and the odor of warm circuitry.

Old car or airplane. From the interior to the firewall to the fuel to the exhaust it is all good.

Hot railroad ties and a low rumbling diesel belching smoke.

Xerox copies in the early days right after the Mimeograph was retired.

The deep woods on a hot summer day, the decay of fall and freshly falling snow in the middle of winter.

Springtime almost anywhere is fantastic.

Shyguy, I noticed on your list you put "Morning dew".

Are we talking "Dookie doo" or Mountan Dew?

The beach..ocean air.
Campfires.
Tire smoke. Burning rubber and exhaust fumes!
Some skunky chronic.

Ermm..uh..Hmm.(how to say this semi-politely!)
Females. Yea. -It's some instinctual thing.
(I semi-jokingly call myself 'Multiple Miggs')

I used to like the smell of gas,but I can't stand it anymore.
Plus,Am I the only one who's noticed that gas is smelling more like tar/asphalt lately?
Diesel fumes/exhaust is another one I can't stand anymore.Diesel exhaust will make me ill.
The smell of hospitals, and Dr's offices.
Pan-fried hamburgers. Something about the smell of frying ground beef makes me want to up-chuck. I love a good burger though! LOL

And the one I miss most of all-
The smell of the OLD rosin core solder (pre-90's?).The new stuff just doesn't have the same sickly sweet smell.
Some of you Solder-slingers will know exactly what I'm talking about! :-) (Alfredo!?)

I've still got a big roll from that time period.

You are exactly right. The new stuff just does not cut it.

Are the cans of Resin still the same? I've one of those too. They almost last forever, unless you lose them.

ROTFLMAO

Are we talking "Dookie doo" or Mountan Dew?

Beano neither! Still LOL. I think I SHARTED!

No the smell of the morning like outside dew on the grass.

The smells that my ass make in the morning when I am sitting on my porcelian throne sometimes can indeed make me feel ill. Yes Folks I am that good!! I could go on but that would be too much fucking information!

Thanks Beano no comedies needed for me tonight.

Dry Latex.
Wet leather.
VERY specific colognes and purfumes.
Cedar.
The smell of going to work in a bar that you worked in the night before and rocked the house.
Scratch and sniff stickers of Root Beer.
Pink erasers.
Irish Spring Bar Soap.
I like Nuetrogena's scent - hate using it on my skin though.
Minty toothpaste. I cannot stand anything but mint. No bubble gum or fucking Cinnamon. PASTE. NO GEL.
No Big Red gum unless I'm going to kiss some slut in less than 3 minutes. Chances are that she'll have a wad of Big Red already going.

I do not like chocolate and strawberries together. I know it's supposed to be romantic - but it just makes me crave milk. Ice cold skim milk. Which it a little bit of a mood killer.

Silly me! I forgot all about the solder. Yes, I love the smell of rosin core solder. Other smells for my list:

New tires
Pipe tobacco
Fresh pipe smoke
Fresh cigarette smoke

I don't like the smell of stale cigarette smoke impregnated on fabrics or hair. I have never figured out why the smell of the smoke as it comes off the cigarette is so much different than the smell it leaves on stuff.

Who loved the Camas smell from the old Crown Z days?
How about the Albany stench up until the early 90's?
Or better yet, the Tacoma aroma from the late 60's?

Not me! You?

The fresh smell has all the tobacco elements. The left overs are mostly tar. That's the stink.

Love a freshly opened, but not smoked, cigar too.

Fog.

Soda Pop, freshly poured, with the little fizzies bouncing all around. That first drink, from the glass with ice, is a smell / taste sensation that's excellent.

Goes down hill from there quick.

On that tangent, anybody ever have one of those instant pop machines? A friend had one, and it would carbonate anything. Carbonated Milk, OJ (which kicks total ass --call it Go-J, make a million and remember KSKD when it happens!), juice, whatever. Loved that thing.

Freshly cleaned guns.

A lit match.

Moss.

> The fresh smell has all the tobacco elements. The left overs are mostly tar. That's the stink.

In 1985, my mom took a job waiting tables at a place called the Granville Inn (Granville, OH). When she would return home after work, her hair and clothes smelled like deep fat frier grease and stale cigarette tars. That had to be one of the most DISGUSTING smells that I had ever had the displeasure of whiffing. Blech! :-(

"OJ (which kicks total ass --call it Go-J, make a million and remember KSKD when it happens!)..."

It's (to some extent or other) been done already: ORANGINA. That stuff kicks total ass! ;o)

I love the smell of the Dairy Queen on 4th Plain and Coxley (right next to Pro Calibre) with waffle cones, ice cream and deep-fried foods lingering in the air.
(I do NOT like the smell of Pro Calibre tho! After being in there about ten minutes the smell of brand-new tyres starts to give me a whomping headache!)
Smokey's Pizza, freshly delivered
A damp late-spring night at my folks' house, with the back windows wide open; with the smell of damp grass and trees and earth, and the compost pile just right outside my room. Unfortunately the apartment complex, with its damp-asphalt and T1-11 smells just does NOT cut it at all!

Alfredo mentioned:
"Pipe tobacco
Fresh pipe smoke"

Always reminds me of my folks' next-window neighbour/good friend of our family. For years he smoked some kind of pipe tobacco that kind of smelled like cherries and vanilla. When I was younger and I would ride my bike past our houses, I could always tell when Mr. D-- was home because of the smoke smell. I don't know what the hell he uses now but it smells like he's smoking vulcanised rubber. ;o)

How about Testor's glue for plastic model kits? Pretty toxic (then) for 8-year-olds to be handling (and sniffing)! Put too much on and it melts the plastic parts (and your brain cells)!
