I don't know about you but I LOVE the finer things in life like a good hot dog. I don't think I've ever been to Costco and not stoped for a Polish dog, piled high with onions, relish, Sauer Kraut ect. ect. Those Costco dogs are damn good, some of the best I've ever had. But does anybody remeber when Winco used to have those hot dog stands out in the summer time?? They did this about 10 years ago and you could go buy a hot dog and a pop for only a buck. Well I've been trying to figure out what hot dogs they used to serve at winco and I've FINALLY figured it out. They are called "Fletchers Smoked Sausage Hot links". MY GOD ARE THOSE THINGS GOOD! If anyone is doing a barbQ this weekend I strongly suggest those Hotlinks. Very Tasty, even better than Costco's Polish Dogs, and THATS saying a lot because Costco Hot Dogs are high on my list of Tasty Hot dogs!
Is there a type of hot dog or polish dog that you had that was sooooo good that it deserves bragging rights? Lets hear em. And please don't even start with Oscar Meyer hot dog CRAP. Im talking REAL DOGS!!!!!

I'll second the Costco dogs, but I have to limit myself to only a couple a year or so...

Also kudos to the dogs at Safeco field.
They use "Cloverdale" dogs.
Anyone know where to get Cloverdale meats around here?

At home we prefer Nathan's.

Yum!

I am sad to say that I have given up the occasional hot dog or sausage. Maybe one day again but I don't really miss them.

OK, I’ll admit it, I eat Ball Park Beef Franks – and I like them. I also like Johnsonville Brats. My issue is with hot dog buns. Where do you buy GOOD hot dog buns? The buns I find are often too small or too big. Just my thought on the matter.

"You know how hot dogs come 10 to a pack and buns in packs of 8 or 12? You have to buy 9 packs to make them match up! That's what I'm talking about!" -- Swoosie Kurtz in True Stories

Personally, I think that nothing tastes better than a hot dog with lots of mustard and onions at a baseball game.

Butcher Boys (2615 E Fourth Plain Blvd. Vancouver, WA 98661 360-693-6241) dinner franks! Mmmmm good!

Also they have a great selection of other sausages too. All great.

Gartner's has awesome sausages too. (http://www.gartnersmeats.com)

Great hot dog buns? Helen Bernhard's of course! (http://www.helenbernhardbakery.com)

Funny, I was just thinking I'd like a good grilled dog. I'll probably go get some Butcher Boys dinner franks tomorrow and do them on the Traeger Grill!

I very seldom go to Costco that I don't have a Polish and a pop. $1.50! Cheapest lunch in town!
Sauerkraut and deli mustard on it and I'm good!

I loved "Oregon Chief" hot dogs. They were so good! Now there's a local company I miss!

I was just thinking about them a few weeks ago. They went great with a ice-cold Sunkist-brand lemonade. They served both at Black Butte Ranch.

Baby M. luvs the nitrite and additive-free hotdogs with the blue label from Trader Joe's.

Somebody has good dog buns that have a little twisty/braid type top with a sprinkling of (I think) corn meal...is it Safeway bakery? I'll get back to you! Now I want one!

No. That's some kind of blasphemy!

Seriously, my favorite hot dog is one with the dog, toasted bun, ideally with a light butter coating, celery salt(this is key, try it), coarse ground pepper, mustard, small amount of cheese, kraut or onion, or both!

Its almost 1:30 in the morning and as I'm typing, I'm enjoying a fletchers smoked sausage hot link, on a Franz Bread hot dog bun.
Talk about heaven on earth. OOps hold on, The relish and Kraut are sliding off the bun. This is getting messy!
Gotta go!

With all of the food talk you bring up........

You'll just have to show at the next gathering and dispel this rumor. Or you could check out the rumor control thread and get a head start on it.

I hasten to add the Dog House at 2845 E Burnside.

Mebbe we ought to take a tour of dogs that ends in a Beavers game at PGE Park.

Well, it won't end there exactly.

It will end when the cramping and gas subsides. After that, maybe our SOs will let us cuddle again.

Brian, funny you mention this place. I had lunch there yesterday!

Just found out this week that I'm going to have to make a trip to the Chicago suburbs in August or early September. I'll have to have a Portillo's hot dog and a Italian combo sandwich!

Go try Michael's right where Burnside and Sandy come together (next to Hippo Hardware).

Get a combo, wet, extra hot peppers, a side of au jus and fries! Mmm Mmm good!

Otto's,hands down.Best Dog's ever.
I'm crappin you negative! [Raising Arizona quote!]
IIRC,Otto's was on the Top-10 list of best dogs in the country,It was the only review where they talked about the *DOG* itself, instead of the condiments, bun, etc. That should tell ya something.

I've got a serious soft-spot for a good polish dog.But IMO,all the 'extras' ruin it! Nothing but the dog, bun, and a bit of mustard for me!

(For another midweek day, We do about 80 burritos, wrapped in foil, then frozen, to throw on the coals or grill for lunch or breakfast...)
