Due out tomorrow is "Nostradamus" from Judas Priest.

Later this fall look for a Wal-Mart exclusive on AC/DC's newest CD.

Aerosmith going back into the studio to work on their new music.

OH, and I heard David Gilmore has not dismissed the possibility of a re-union project with Pink Floyd. Although he said it was very doubtful for anything lengthy.

I've given up on Aerosmith. They turned into a soccer mom band that has been putting out crap! I don't understand why they can't put out a REAL rock record that is actually good, instead of this bubble gum crap they have been putting out. Their last 2 albums were so bad. I Bought the albun "Just push play" the first day it came out. The next day I took it to everyday music and sold it because it was such a piece of garbage!
ACDC and Judus Priest will be interesting to see what their new material sounds like.

DT ... picked up that Wooden Nickel Recordings of the first 4 Styx albums. Misfiled under "D" at Fry's. Great stuff.

New music I have bought from:

John Hiatt "Same Old Man"
Steve Winwood "Nine LIves"
Ray Davies (Kinks) "Working Man's Cafe"
The Pretty Things "Balboa Island"
Levon Helm (The Band) "Dirt Farmer"

Maybe not all "classic rock" but I personally think the name "classic rock" simply means overplayed tracks from mostly 70's and 80's bands that had a charted single or two. Classic rock formats are sooooo boring. Same old songs from the bands they play. So many other good songs left unplayed.

re: Aerosmith Is Steve Tyler out of rehab yet? He went back in about a month ago.

re: Pink Floyd. Gilmour isn't the one that's been the roadblock, it's Roger Waters ... still mad he lost the lawsuit over the rights to tour under the name.

re: Judas Priest and AC/DC. If there is anyone in these bands from the original 70's lineups?

Clear Blue Sky (the band that sounded like Rush before Rush) finally released "Destiny" on CD, their second album previously out of print and originally only available as in import vinyl.

I love "Classic Rock" but do tire of the stale top 40. I listen much more than the common listener so I am way off of the bell curve. I usually buy CD's instead of just downloading select songs. I love panning through the "B" sides looking for "Gold Nuggets". That early stuff from Styx is not for the common fan but it is really great to hear stuff like that from the bands origins. Just got Pink Floyd "Piper at the Gates of Dawn". It was a special edition with one disc in mono and the other in stereo.

Yup, I love Classic rock too, but Im burnt out on the same overplayed songs. I love Kgon but Im getting tired of the same burnt out songs. I was listening to Charlie but I can only take so much of madonna and over played phil collins songs- YUCK!
I think the best station on the dial is KUFO. That station has been sounding so good latlely! The variety of rock is AWESOME on that station and im hearing deeper tracks that the other stations aren't playing. KUDO's to KUFO!

The station I keep tuning to for deep tracks is "ZUNE". They play whatever I want whenever I want wherever I want. It's a really sweet station and tends to play quite a bit of Sammy Hagar! And it's truly amazing the amout of Pink Floyd that they play!

Piper at the Gates Of Dawn: The first Pink Floyd release.
The mono version was released 8-5-67. One month later the stereo version was released. Slightly different track list in the U.S vs. English releases. Great stuff. The English LP had the original version of "Astronomy Domine," although the live version of that song on the LP Ummagumma is better (played it a lot on the radio back when). The original U.S. release simply said "Pink Floyd" on the front cover, so many folks think that is the name of the album. The U.S. release had the single "See Emily Play" on it.

I still buy CD's although I have downloaded a few dozen tracks I needed to learn guitar parts for and didn't have the time to scour the bins for the CD with the correct version of the song.

Obscure B side: "Wasp Man" by the Who, backed "The Relay" when it was released as a U.S. single in the early 70's.

Classic rock/top 40 ... Exactly my point. Classic rock format is like "Top 900." I remember when KGON used to play the top 923 tracks ... frankly it was all they ever played. Classic rock format is very weak when it comes to playing tracks other than the ones that were either the original hit single from the album or became a hit later. The so called "radio cuts" from any album rarely exceeded 3 tracks. Some of the best cuts are never played and after 20 years of playing the crap out of those 3 tracks I find the format boring and repetitive. It's just that I am not the average listener, either, having been on the serving end back when I could play almost any of the tracks and the format was to cover as many as possible, not play the shit out of a few. Commercial radio became a venue to attract the largest audience, and clearly variety and quality of the music is no longer a factor.

I actually did like that CD PK. I also liked the CD "nine lives" that came out in 96' that was actually a great album, everything after" nine lives" has been "crap!"

For some reason the last few Aerosmith albums have been targeted toward the soccer mom demo, WHY???! THe music has been CRAP and they are long over-due for a real kick ass rock record. I want a real rock record from Aerosmith, something KUFO would be playing not "The buzz" Can someone please call up Steven Tyler and give him the memo! I Know for a FACT there are a lot of die hard aersomith fans that would love a new Aerosmith album to come out, THAT IS ACTUALLY GOOD! Aerosmith sold out when they recorded that god-awful P.O.S "I don't want to miss a thing". Talk about a steaming pile of DOG CRAP! I've seen a ton of Concerts and Aerosmith is BY FAR one of the best groups to see live. Its too bad they have been releasing soccer mom CRAP!

Hey Darktemper-Im not saying they don't have great people at KGOn because I Love Iris, BUT what I am saying is that KGON has the most conservative playlist in the country! Its the same overplayed songs, and they NEVER play any deep album cuts.
If you want to hear the exact same Lynard Skynard songs day after day, keep listening, BUT I like deeper album cuts plus I do like some of the new rock which is why I listen to KUFO.

"re: Judas Priest and AC/DC. If there is anyone in these bands from the original 70's lineups?"

Not sure about Priest, though I do know Rob Halford is fronting them again. The entire AC/DC lineup is intact from its origins except of course Brian Johnson in place of Bon Scott ... and he's been there since 1980.

Hey Brianl. Im pretty worried about ACDC's new album that will be out in a few months. Acdc's last album was mediocre at best. Hopefully they will prove me wrong. Lets also not forget that Metallica has a new album coming out within the next year. The problem with Metallica is that their last album "St anger" was such an embarrassing piece of garbage that they might not be able to recover from it. It was truely the first album that they did not have to worry about people downloading it. "ST Anger" was so bad, nobody would touch it with a ten foot stick!

Well, I bought and listened to "Nostradamus" from Judas Priest. While it was good it was not outstanding like the Scorpions newest album. It was also a concept album and a little different than any other Priest album i've heard. I liked it but didn't love it. Judas Priest fans will like it but as for casual listeners they will not. You will not likely here very much from this release on-air after the standard two week push of one particular track. Out of five stars I give it a 2.5

Hey Temper, I didn't even know that the New Judus Priest album was even out! Im gonna have to go check it out! And yes "Humanity Hour 1" is a genius album, The new Judus Priest album would have to be pretty damn solid to beat "Humanity Hour 1".

Whats interesting is that a majority of Classic rock bands that contiune to put out new material, usually it is not very good. BUT there is an exception to that rule- The scorpions and Rush's new album are Genius, but in my opinion that is not the norm. I really hope Acdc's new album will be good, plus it would be really cool if Metallica made an awesome new album! I've got my fingers crossed.

My review on the new Def Leppard album??
Well its not looking very good. Average at best but not even in the same leauge as the new Scorpions CD, not even close! I'll give it a few more listens before i give my final review on it!
"Humanity Hour 1" is such a solid album, its really hard to beat.

Speaking of original line ups and new CD's, what about Journey?

I already have admitted it. I love them. A while ago here I said "Never. Never without Steve Perry".

Then I happened to catch them on "Ellen" a few weeks ago and...Whoa!!!!

Uh oh. I may have to reconsider. The new lead singer, Arnel Pineda, appears to be astounding. They found him on Youtube and he sounds really, really good.

They have a new 3-disc set out exclusively at...dammit...get this...WalMart.

I'm so conflicted...

Does anyone have, or has anyone heard the new stuff? Is it on the radio?

2 cds and a dvd for about $18... seems like a good deal. Some audio samples on the 'zon, as well. My wife says not without SP, but mileage can vary.

Justin - agreed ... though they've pulled it together in the past. Blow Up Your Video was far from AC/DC's best effort, and it was followed up three years later by The Razor's Edge, a masterpiece IMHO.

I'm just stoked that they might be touring again .. for anyone who hasn't seen AC/DC live, Angus goes absolutely berserk. Worth the price of admission.

Just because Yugo's come from a country that no longer exsists, does not mean they are bad cars!(seriously, and thats the honest to god truth!) I could get a pretty penny for my yugo, IF I choose to sell it, which I never will.

quote:

When asked if the band plans to release a Humanity - Hour II, Meine replied:

“ That is what everybody is asking. There might be. Who knows? Right now we are at the beginning of the world tour. It is exciting to play the new songs and they go very well with the classics. It is exciting that there is a whole new audience out there. There are many longtime fans but there are a lot of young kids. We just played in London and in Paris and there were young kids rocking out to songs that were written way before they were born. It is amazing. I don’t want to think about Hour II right now because Hour I is so exciting. It is very inspiring to see how much the audience enjoys this new music.

WOW......

And it's amazing that it gets little to no air-play!

This new CD is like a cross-over SUV. It bridges the gap between the fans that grew up with the music and New Generation fans.

Apparently some Pd's think that because the band has been around a long time that they are not worthy of airplay.
Apparently some Pd's think that if they are not the newest, hottest, flavor of the month band that they should be given ZERO airplay. These are the same Pd's that think KORN and Tool are the hottest thing ever! I have nothing against Korn or Tool, I personally would never listen to them, BUT I realize their are people who love them. Somehow I think the new Scorpions album has a much wider, broader appeal than say a Korn album. A good album is a good album, PERIOD! Regardless if the band members are 80 years old or 17 years old. You're really depriving an audience when your ONLY playing the hottest, newest bands. I would bet there are PLENTY of people who do like the Scorpions and would love to hear some new music from them. "Humanity Hour 1" is HUGE in Europe, they are like the Linkin Park over in Europe.
