Anyone can stream ay 128 Kbps now. They cut the free listener slots. Used to be 25, now it's from 5 slots or more. If i want more it can cost up to $70 per month now. Let's have some fun, tell me what to play. Amazon now has non drm mp3 downloads. I have some $ on account there. Just played: Spice Girls - Wannabe [2:55] Lynyrd Skynyrd - What's Your Name [3:35] LOL!

I've also noticed that on Live 365, there's a maximum number of hours that someone can listen unless they're a paid listening member (completely separate from broadcasting). Wow, that's the ticket... make it as tough as hell for people to listen (I personally haven't listened to anything on Live 365 since the original listening caps, which I think was around June or July of 2002). Skeptics have been speculating on when they'll go out of business, ever since 2001. I wonder if it'll be soon. Also, I wonder if any of the sites that have been "teasing" stream hosting for the past few years will ever actually offer it.

" Passive listeners " ( those that click play and then just let it run ) were capped at 10 hours before I left. If someone was truly listening at the end of 10 hours, they would get an audio message alerting them re-click and they'd have another 10 hours. This step was taken to; #1. Save costs of media delivery. #2. Temper stations from running falsely high TLH. ( Total Listener Hours ) Which can effect how a station is ranked/displayed among the stations form which to choose. Live365 gave away the frigging farm for quite a while in it's early days. It got abused AND it got nailed with royalty issues that costs them financially. The perfect storm came along, marrying a need to make a profit AND getting kicked in the sack with royalty issues. I had a nasty falling out with Live365 - but I had a choice to leave and I exercised it. I'm not aware of there being a total number of hours able to be heard before you can't anymore, but they have implemented company policies that have been frustrating for a broadcaster. And while I know that many of them were implemented as a direct need to counter royalty issues, I remain unconvinced that they would alter their policies if some windfall in their favor ever came along to relieve them of the need to counter royalty and legal issues. Which leaves me feeling like they have a mindset that I just don't hang with. " Also, I wonder if any of the sites that have been "teasing" stream hosting for the past few years will ever actually offer it." Yes. They do.

"I'm not aware of there being a total number of hours able to be heard before you can't anymore" This would be news to me. I doubt its the case. One should be able to reopen the player window and "re"listen at any time.
