I've found this site to be a pretty good site to show updated polls and how they reflect on the electoral map.

It's interesting to follow the day to day changes in the map as new polls come in. Today, they show Obama with 317 EV's. Only 270 are needed to win. Along with keeping all of the states won by Kerry, Obama is projected to pick up CO, IA, MO, NM, OH, and VA.

Granted, it's early and polls are polls, but if you're a McCain supporter, it's got to be apparent the level of momentum they are against.

And people need to become acutely in tune with the electoral tally. Hillary pushed her strengths in the "popular election" during her campaign, but as we learned in 2000 it's all about the electoral college.

It looks like this site does not include the latest poll from FL showing Obama ahead. Give Obama another 27 EV's.

"Democrat Barack Obama is leading Republican John McCain in Florida, Pennsylvania and Ohio, the first time he's had an advantage in all three electoral battleground states, a Quinnipiac University poll found.

Obama is ahead of McCain by a statistically significant margin in each state. He leads 47 percent to 43 percent in Florida; 48 to 42 percent in Ohio and 52 to 40 percent in Pennsylvania, the poll found."

It's a long, long few months til election day. The swing voters who decide every election most likely haven't begun to pay serious attention to which candidate they'll vote for in November. After Labor Day we can start taking these polls a little more seriously. Before that, they don't mean all that much.
