I'm looking for a big-time Nwokie comeback.

It could be any day now.

Huh....

Herb=Nwokie, possibly???

Supposedly if Jungian philosophy holds any weight nowdays, everybody has an alter ego; a certain alternate personality buried deep within their subconscious.

Hey, I'm just sayin'...............

I deeply respect Nwokie's service to our country. And the fact that leftists bash him continuously tells me he's doing a lot right.

Herbert 'Nwokie' Milhous

P.S. I still have your back, Nwokie. Don't let these socialists get you down. They hated Mr. Nixon, too...especially after he was successful in taking down the commie Alger Hiss.

I was deeply offended on how Nwokie lied about his service to our country. Absolutely and completely despicable behavior.

Herb, for as high and mighty as you like to make yourself out to be, you support and surround yourself with losers, crooks, and phonies.

"I was deeply offended"

If you're a person who gets "deeply offended" so easily, you shouldn't participate or read forums like this.

So Deane, you approve of someone LYING about their service to our country? Is that a trait you admire in people?

Well, I think that's bad advice.

Being deeply offended is part of the experience of a good forum. That can only happen when the discussion matters.

No pain, no gain.

There is always the Hannity forums, if all you are looking for is affirmation and entertainment.

Free Republic is way down on contributors right now too. They could use the help!

"I deeply respect Nwokie's service to our country."

Herb, I came late to this party and never got to debate with Nwokie, but I understand he had lied about serving in Vietnam and you guys attacked that radioblogman guy for outing him.

So you have respect for someone who lied about serving in Vietnam and none for someone who did? I guess that is why you are a neocon.

Sorry Mr. radioblogman, they should be thanking you for your service.

Deane, I'm not easilly offended at all. But I do take offense to anyone who makes false claims about their service to our country, while at the same take taking accolades from people like you or Herb.

"I deeply respect Nwokie's service to our country."

Not anymore. He deeply DISRESPECTED those who honestly served our country.

He's just another swiftboat liar folks. Lord knows the trouble they caused for Kerry. Why encourage one to come back here? Hmm?

Mr. Kerry has been accused of being a poseur and was dissed not by me for his service.

He was, however, dissed by those with whom he purportedly served. Many vets also take issue with Mr. Kerry's purported observation of atrocities which they state never occured.

You have a problem with those dissing Mr. Kerry? Then take it up with those guys who were actually there.

Nonetheless, if a man is honourably discharged, he did more than either Mr. Clinton or Mr. Cheney in putting his life on the line for our freedoms.

God bless all our vets. That includes John Kerry and that includes Nwokie.

I've been silent on this. Well, mostly I think. Silent enough.

Now it's time to say some stuff.

I believe in redemption. Let's say this lie stands. I think it does, otherwise we would have seen a response that checked it and we would have all moved on.

Is that the end of the world?

I don't think so. Sometimes we look in the mirror here and see ugly and painful stuff. Maybe we shy away, or lie to cover it up, or some other thing --anything, not to face it.

Sometimes we leave too.

Maybe that's what happened here, I don't really know.

So, facing it is tough, but it's also the point of it all too. I believe that's where Nwokie is at right now. Not a pretty place.

The real crime for me, maybe like Vitalogy said, offence, is the conversation not being real.

The fact that he very likely didn't serve isn't anything to worry over. It's that I now wonder if I had even one exchange that was real!

(probably did, but don't know which is which)

And that makes it all pointless, and that really sucks.

To be fair, there is a difference between doing this because one does not know better, and doing it with deliberate, contrived intent to craft a persona then manupulate people with it.

The latter is pretty ugly, the former human.

I don't know which applies here either, though I suspect the former. (hope it's the former)

So then, facing that, moving forward from there, maybe starting with "I'm sorry", then is redemption and it all can move forward from there with worries that diminish over time as everybody, including Nwokie, get to know who Nwokie really is.

Maybe it can happen. I have no problem with that happening. I think it's supposed to happen if Nwokie is strong enough.

Maybe we like that person better than we did the persona he shared with us. Maybe he might like that person better too. Won't know until it's tried, now will we?

There is a greater cost here besides Nwokie feeling the heat and pain. We lost Radioblogman over this.

He *had* to share it, because he was being real and real people do that. He was right to share it, but now he's gone too. Don't know what I think of that other than I don't like it.

"Does he get your respect?"

Read my post, Chris. All honourably discharged vets get my respect and appreciation for their service.

But it seems to me that the leftists here want to pile on Nwokie by being his judge, jury and executioner. Whatever happened to 'innocent until proven guilty,' all you liberals?

Don't agree with someone? Then even though many liberals hate the very idea of our military, they'll attempt to banish someone they've never even met.

Did Nwokie pad his resume? If he did, then I'll confess to a tad of puffery in the past.

I say if he served under our flag and was honourably discharged, he's done more than me and many others here who simply want to pile on.

Don't be poseurs.

OK, let me join in asking Nwokie to return. As a Vietnam vet, I can forgive him for lying about his own service. In fact, I guess I would be proud that he chose to be part of my war, rather than all of the later ones we had.
Please Nwokie, come back, and I will debate with you again. I have to say that I have indeed miss that part of being here.
If Carter can pardon the draft dodgers, I can pardon someone who would have volunteered to fight with me.

If an honourably-discharged Vietnam vet like Radioblogman is willing to open up his big old former machine-gun carrying arms for Nwokie, that says far more than anything I, a non-vet, could ever hope to say.

I honour you both for being bigger than one man's mistake.

Living in the past is fruitless. Yesterday is gone, folks. It's over.

Tomorrow? There's no guarantee any of us will see tomorrow.

How about making the most of today. Live in the present. That's why today is a "gift".

Forgive and move on. Grace is something that's undeserved but given freely. We've all made mistakes. It's no whether we make mistakes, but what we learn from them.

It wouldn't surprise me if the direction this thread has gone is part of the reason he's left.
No, I don't know him, but I can understand why/how someone would leave after something like this.

On the other hand, the fact that NWokie got caught pulling a Cooley might have bumped up the level of truth being posted these days by other members.
