SUSAN SARANDON, who appeared in three films last year and won kudos for her TV movie "Bernard and Doris," is still not a contented soul. She says if John McCain gets elected, she will move to Italy or Canada. She adds, "It's a critical time, but I have faith in the American people."

Susan Sarandon doesn't have to worry about packing. The better the odds of winning, the more ridiculous the bets people are willing to make.

I'll send her some empty boxes and help her pack.

Anybody else that wants to leave can have my help too!

Sigh*....Havent we heard enough from blowhard hollywood celebrities? Seems like every election cycle we hear these same things and yet they never actually follow thru.

I'm not sure why people even give a shit about what celebrities say. It's only the conservatives who seem to be worry about it though.

Vitalogy - it seems to be mostly the conservatives because so much of Hollywood is so liberal. We don't have many Chalton Hesstons roaming around anymore.

Some stars are extremely well versed on issues of the day. A few go as far as to hire professionals to brief them on matters of state and global importance. But I would prefer they stay out of the limelight when it comes to politics and let the candidate or the campaign do the talking. Some stars come across as amateurish and intellectually opaque when trying to articulate positions on matters. But when it comes to raising money, that’s another matter entirely. I say to the Democrats and liberal causes, take advantage of your relationship with liberal Hollywood. If Republicans have industries which heavily support their causes, why then can’t the Democrats?

Free speech. If some Hollywood stars want to get their point across, how is this different from the GOP donors giving money in secrecy to McCain's campaign? Anybody that puts in an effort to the political causes of our nation is a patriot, no matter what their viewpoint. Some do it with money, others with their celebrity.

Exactly.

And, the rub with conservatives --at least the Bush kind, is that money exchanged in dark places is speech that does not seek a direct challenge.

Somebody, who can get attention, does deliver that direct challenge.

Nobody likes truth spoken to power.

Everybody needs for it to be done, like it or not.

Also, the dynamic for a hollywood star is different. When you are courting dark money, it's pretty easy to just pander right to them, not being all that worried at how defensible the whole thing is, or who is going to get hosed because of it.

The celebrity isn't going to advocate for large portions of their audience, which they need just like the corrupt need the money, to make their living.

Anybody that goes and endorses somebody who most of the nation thinks is a nut-bag, isn't going to be quite the popular box office draw.

Classic leftist hand-wringing whiners who lie about leaving the United States. I hope these pinko sympathisers follow through on their meaningless threats. What a bunch of commie ingrates:

Academy Award-winning actress Susan Sarandon says "anywhere but here" if Republican John McCain wins November's election. She says she will "be checking out a move to Italy. Maybe Canada, I don't know. We're at an abyss."

However, celebrities in the past do not have a stellar track record of making good on threats to flee if their candidate loses. Numerous stars vowed to pack up if George W. Bush won the 2000 election, including Barbara Streisand, Martin Sheen, Alec Baldwin and even Sarandon's long-time boyfriend Tim Robbins.

All still currently reside here in the U.S.

Susan Sarandon could influence many decisions I might make, but voting is not one of them.
