Click on the link to see a picture of the scarf Michelle Malkin thinks is a terrorist threat. This is the kind of fear the GOP is stooping to in order to sucker in the sure bets like Deane and Herb, they eat this shit up!

"Dunkin' Donuts pulled a television spot featuring talk show host and Food Network personality Rachael Ray this weekend after a Fox news commentator associated it with terrorists.

In the ad, Ray is wearing a scarf that Michelle Malkin said in her nationally syndicated column resembled a kiffiyeh, Middle Eastern garb that is "popularized by Yasser Arafat and a regular adornment of Muslim terrorists appearing in beheading and hostage-taking videos."

Dunkin's Senior Vice President for Communications Margie Myers issued a statement saying the scarf "was selected by a stylist for the advertising shoot. Absolutely no symbolism was intended.

"However, as of this past weekend, we are no longer using the online ad because the possibility of misperception detracted from its original intention to promote our iced coffee."

In her column, Malkin also noted that it could appear at times that actor Colin Farrell, rapper Kanye West and Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean have been photographed in similar scarves that were "distinctive hate couture."

Michelle Malkin sucks.

I say let people who believe shit like this just go on and look stupid. They did not get the memo that people are not falling for this kind of scare tactic like they used to. they sound so pathetic. The next step will be for talk like this to become so politically incorrect that people will violently object to it. Like racial slurs and stuff like that.

Good grief!

Are we really being reduced to grade school crap like this?

It's embarrassing, frankly.

Yeah, CJ, they got the other memo. You know, that one for those in the fear club! First rule of fear club is that nobody talks about fear club, except to those other known members of the fear club.

Everybody else is just actually fearing stuff, promoted by the fear club members and are really just tools.

Schlubs.

That scarf looked quite nice and stylish on her actually. Good call on her part. Too bad the terrorist fashion patrol stopped by to piss on the scene.

FOX News Contributor Geraldo Rivera said this about Ms. Malkin: "Michelle Malkin is the most vile, hateful commentator I've ever met in my life," he says. "She actually believes that neighbors should start snitching out neighbors, and we should be deporting people. It’s good she’s in D.C. and I’m in NY. I’d spit on her if I saw her.”

Perfectly said.

Why in the hades does it matter whether Trixter knows who Geraldo Rivera is or not? This thread is about Michelle Malkin not him Besides Trix didn't say he didn't know who he was in the first place.

This is just your lame attempt to hijack this thread away from your heroine Michelle Malkin.

In women's fashion, there is one accessory that is often completely overlooked, yet can offer endless possibilities for enhancing the look of your wardrobe. That accessory, of course, is the scarf. Scarves have been a part of women's fashion for millennia, with representations of fringed rectangles of fabric found in Chinese sculpture dating as far back as 1000 b. c.
In the last half-century, scarf-wear has evoked an air of Hollywood-style glamour, and sophisticated elegance. Just picture such icons as Lana Turner, Marilyn Monroe and Grace Kelly arriving for lunch at the Brown Derby, their beauty barely disguised by silk scarves and sunglasses, looking amazingly glamorous.

Broadway said - " Yes I am a Malkin fan...one smart gal..."

Broadway, I have a relatively simple question to ask you. Now, admittedly, before I ask it, I have to say that I am worried. I'm worried that you will not actually answer my question by answering my question. I'm worried that you'll try and steer things towards God or instead of answering my question, you'll ask another question or tell me to ask someone else a question.

You obviously have the ability to answer simple questions. You answered my last one with a simple " Yes." Thank you for that. But I have noticed that the more absurd sounding your answer, the less direct you are willing to be in your answer. So let's just try and answer the question I ask and not try and read anything into it or jump to any conclusion about why I am asking it or anything like that.

Ready?

Here is comes;

Do you believe that Rachel Ray's scarf shows support for terrorism?

There is NOT bigger fish to fry. Nice try at a dodge.

If you can't answer the question, then say so. But let's not pretend that you have answered it.

Do you believe that Rachel Ray's scarf shows support for terrorism?

It's a simple question. Do you BELIEVE that it does? You don't even have to support your answer. You just have to THINK about it and come to a conclusion. Try it.

What part of the word "honestly" don't you understand...but what's the point. Yes she's probably sending out some message of sorts if she truely knows these terrorist wear the garb all the time but who knows...and No if she is totally clueless about the scarf...in looking at the picture of her I would'nt have notice the connection. Hope this answers.

That's roughly a no, but qualified with maybe because the clothing looks the same and stuff.

Sounds like one of those we know better, but still kind of things. I can understand that, having to deal with them from time to time. Reason is the answer man. Just fight it, look hard at the scenario and watch the doubt fall away!

Really, there is no message, just the terrorist fashion police fear mongering. There is no spoon.

Typical Broadway dodge and weave. In this case, there is no Bible verse in which to cling. Thusly, he’s left to think for himself. But rather than coming out and answering the question directly, he gives an answer that makes former President Clinton’s “is” response to a grand jury question credible.

I understand the word perfectly. But I didn't ask you what you know, I asked you what you believe. Do you see any difference at all?

But since you brought it up, ok, I'll ask a different way " Do you believe that she was sending out a message to terrorists with her scarf? "

Broadway, here, I'll show my cards. It's not a game to me though - even though I used a gaming term. You tell me where I am am wrong, if you truly believe ( heck, you can even interchange " believe " with " know " in this case ) I am, and I'll listen with an open heart and mind;

I believe that you are afraid to admit that Rachel Ray in no way was sending a message to support terrorists with her wearing of a scarf. I think that stems from the fact that you have gone on record and said that you believe Malkin is smart. And if you were to admit that Rachel Ray wearing a scarf in a fucking Dunkin' Donuts online ad doesn't actually send any message to terrorists, then you'd have to admit that Malkin didn't exercise any intelligence in posting what she posted. That, in and of itself, is probably enough for you not to admit that your sources were wrong in this case. But it should be, in my opinion. Because you know it is ridiculously absurd to assign that kind of motive to that kind of message. If you were willing to take that thought out just a FEW more steps ( " because terrorists look at online Dunkin' Donuts ads and become emboldened by support they see in a photoshopped jpeg. And that will lead to another attack. And innocent Americans will die - AGAIN!! " That's what you'd HAVE to say at some point. But you won't, because you KNOW that is not true. Yet you just can't come out and say that because that would mean you were wrong ). And giving it any public credibility shows that you are easily fooled and led. Oh sure, it would be great if it were true that she was sending a message. But you know that it is completely a lie. AND you know that this kind of shit is exactly the kind of stuff that gets people like you in a lot of trouble. Because, quite simply, you are wrong. And even though you don't believe it to be true, admitting that it is a lie would somehow embolden Democrats and give them ammo to use against your world view in the future.

Am I wrong so far? By all means address any point I have made.

You are just going to have to take my word for the following; I do not hate you. I don't. I don't hate you, Broadway. You are not a martyr or a victim. I do not hate you because you believe in God or even for any of your beliefs politically. But I am here to warn you. You. Specifically. ( And I'm trying to keep this in perspective wihtout sounding like a loon or some overly-knowledgeable person who knows anything more than you do. ) But if you persist in giving statements like Malkin's ANY credibility, in the name of fear or pride, while ignoring truth, you will pay dearly. Now, I know that a statement like that may rile your pride and cause you to be defensive to the point where you feel attacked. To be honest, I am attacking you. Personally and with explained reason. You belong to a club that abhors anything that smacks of weak or or hand-wringing or diplomacy - so I feel just fucking fine spelling it all out to you from my perspective. F-words and all. Using your own tactic because Republicans claim to respect a firm hand and machismo. Fine. Sit the fuck down and belly up, honey. I've got something for you to hear.

You do not earn any respect from me when you hide. And you know DAMN well that you are hiding from actually saying, out loud, what the implication of Malkin is; Rachel Ray is a terrorist sympathiser for wearing a scarf on a Dunkin' Donuts online ad. Look at how ridiculous that is. You believe in codes and secret messages because your side uses them. Fine. But you'd best alter your decoder ring because your misreading of what is important is ruining America. Plain and simple.

Just a reminder, I am attacking you personally. Is it too terse or sharp for you? TOO FUCKING BAD. You've earned it. And I can back that up in any way you wish to define. Go ahead. Do it.

If you want to cling to God when backed into a corner, fine. Heck, that's PART of why God is there for you and me. But I promise you, every single time you do that out of laziness or pride, because you cannot admit some kind of shortcoming, or that invoking God somehow gets you a pass on accountablitiy or demanding accuracy or even basic honesty to me or yourself, I will call you on that. I fucking DARE you to tell me that God himself would give you a pass on that kind of dishonesty. I do not pity you or judge your soul. But I am telling you, nay, I am WARNING you; I will not put up with your bullshit without a fight.

Got it?

Great.

Your turn, Broadway.

CJ --->Damn, that's getting after it! (You would make a scary good poker player man.)

IMHO, the greater point is this. We come here for discussion, entertainment, to share thoughts, and challenge each other. It's an online version of the oldest of entertainment. US!

I think because each of us has a radio connection, be it broadcasting, producing, listening, we appreciate this entertainment at a level higher than most others do.

This is good.

Here is something else too. If any of us chooses to make a silly statement, we are going to get called on it. Somebody else is gonna do it. Nature of the beast.

For some things, there is a correct, incorrect. For others, there is only defensible and indefensible, or maybe just plausible is an easier way to put it.

eg: (not picking on anyone, just an example)

We got Katrina because New Orleans was too damn Gay.

To rational people, this is not plausible. It's just not. Now we've got Hagle out there actually saying this! IMHO, that makes him a nut-bag of the highest order, but the secret is:

Hagle does not care! He buys it, feels good about it, and has absolutely no worries about what others think about it.

How does that work?

If we could bring him in here, and have the discussion like we normally do, he would get called and likely called huge! At the end of the day, a post like CJ's only has impact, if that person has some intent to decieve, or an agenda that is worth more than the personal pressure one would have to endure to support a statement like that.

So, it's a probe then. Finding out who we are and what that means.

It's up to each of us personally, as to how and if that matters and if it matters, it's probably going to hurt some, and with that hurt comes some incentive to actually bend a little, look hard at that self and perhaps fix it, heal it, and be better as a result.

Personally, that is exactly why I'll have a conversation like this. It's real, like a mirror is real, only instead of the mirror, we have the others to see with.

Repeating that exercise makes us strong, and I also think that's good, given the pool of people is diverse enough to not reinforce bad things more than good ones. That's true enough here, that's for sure.

I read that, and see CJ asking "WTF?". It's like that person at the checkout counter picking their nose, or doing some goofy thing and you watch with morbid interest, wondering how they work, not hate, or anger, or anything else.

To me, there is a boundary where doing this gets heated, and I've written why it is for me. Beneath that is us as people, and actually hating somebody isn't on the table for me with anyone here. Getting pissed off, wondering how and why, are though, and that's just enough I guess.

Oh, there is this too. It takes real strength to face that pressure, do the introspection and just answer. The contents of that answer, and it's implications on the self, are as real as the answer is.

No pain, no gain.

And that's where the dodge list comes into play. Rather than face that and deal, we see the dodges, I've posted here from time to time. To be perfectly clear, I've done a lot of them, so this isn't a holier than thou post. It's just some analysis about the dynamic itself, shared so others can also grok it and contribute to it.

Broadway, all CJ is asking for is a REAL answer. The intent is not bad, and I tried to write why. You get out of this place, exactly what you put into it.

We are all here to help get that done! (and do think about my post before you take that the wrong way there is only us getting stronger better, more enlightened -->and it's fun!)

>>Evidently common sense is not part of your value system

I don't recieve comments much like that regarding my character in fact just the opposite.
I would equate common sense with wisdom and this has been my prayer since my youth.

Psalm 119:65
Be good to your servant, God; be as good as your Word. Train me in good common sense; I'm thoroughly committed to living your way.

Any common sense/wisdom comes from my God and He can by your God too!

Our life foundational differences are really showing here.
