His name is Stevie G. He did evenings on Jammin 95.5 and it looks like he will be doing evenings on Jammin 1075.

Alexa is now on middays on Jammin 107.5. Looks promising for a full live and local staff!

Alexa is a Great talent, but Voice tracking her is RETARDED! Hopefuly they will bring Alexa to Portland if she is not live. YOU need to have Live air talent ESPECIALLY on a station like Jammin that relies on High profile air talent. I believe Danner already mentioned that!

Sheesh! I googled "alexa the girl next door" to see what station she is on, and I keep getting porn stars!

One Strike against the new Jammin 1075 for already starting to Voice track on an important day part. Jammin 95.5 NEVER voice tracked their mid-day person! I can already tell this station will sound inferior to Jammin 95.5 and listeners will notice it too, since CBS is starting to cut corners. Plus I still don''t think the music is on the right track! They are not playing as much new music as 95.5 did! If you're running ads claiming that Jammin has moved to 1075 listeners are going to expect the same kind of music, the same type of new music first ect, and the new Jammin is failing to deliver musically!

The hip hop music scene isn't putting out a ton of new music right now. Sure there are some songs that they should be playing and I'm sure that they will get to it soon. You all must remember that they are still looking to get everything together in terms of management and talent. Give them some time and I'm sure they will sound good.

The hip hop music scene isn't putting out a ton of new music right now.

Hmmmm- thats a matter of opinion Triforce, I happen to disagree. Infact I think there is a LOT better hip hop coming out than the Crap that is considered ROCK today.

Just turned on Jammin 1075 and they are playing Alicia Keys "No one". ARE You kidding me????
What about the new song from Lupe Fiasco. why isn't Jammin Playing it??? My niece just bought his new CD and it is good! He sounds a lot like Gnarles barkley! If you like Gnarles you will like him, if you don't than you won't like him. I can't think of any hip hop station that is not playing his new single! Kanye Wests new single featuring Chris Martin Of Coldplay, Still not playing that song on Jammin.
Hopefully Jammin will get with the picture and keep up to date with the new music. I've been keeping track of playlists of the hip hop stations across the country and Jammin 1075 is BY FAR the worst! Hopefully that will change.
But yes, Triforce You're right I should give them some time before I give them crap. BUT, the music on that station should be Their 1 priority right now, not the jocks, that will come with time. Its important now because people are checking out the station to see what kind of music they are playing, if they are playing all the new music ect. If I was to give jammin 1075 a grade on their playlist I would give them a "D". I really want to give them an A, BUt they have a lot of work to do with the playlist!
Im' not trying to hate because I really want the new jammin to sound good, but somebody has to be honest about the playlist.

Hip Hop is the new "underground" music. There is plenty of it out there, but like the rest of old-guard media, 107.5 won't likely take any chances. I'm going to stick my neck out and agree with those who say Jammin' 107.5 won't last more than a year. They are becoming irrelevant like the rest of the old-guard media.

And...despite the voice-tracking on heritage Z100, their playlist and depth of older hits from the past 10 years or so is far more enticing to listen to at this stage than the Jammin' 107.5 playlist.

Being lazy, I'll leave it to the more contentious among you to double check my previous post, but I doubt I referred to middays as one of the important shifts that needed to be live and local on a station like Jammin'. (I believe I mentioned AMDR, PMDR, and nights.)

Outside of summer, the majority of the audience for a station like Jammin' would be in school middays. In my experience, most radio programmers rate middays as the least important shift for any CHR...(Ok, ahead of overnights). Afternoons and evenings are the priorities for younger formats.

But Randy, How is playing the new music like the new Kanye West song taking chances????? Considering the fact that just about every hip hop station is playing it, EXCEPT FOR JAMMIN 1075, why not?? Is this the new Jammin lite???? I sure hope not because that will NEVER WORK!!!
And I agree with you Randy, If they don't improve the playlist and PLAY A LOT more new music, the station will be toast. Plus they need to stop the voice tracking CRAP, it won't work. You can't do that Crap if you want to get ratings!

I will say this, I was listening to Alexa on jammin today, and Again, I think she is an AWESOME air talent. The thing I love about her is that she is the least "hip hop" sounding girl, and I like that. She doesn't uses very little ebonic, unlike some of the other jocks use, and i think that gets annoying.II do think the fact that she is voice tracked, will hurt the station because she doesn't do any phoners or interations with listeners. Jammin 95.5 did a lot of phoners and talking to callers on the air, giving away prizes on the air. That brought a lot of Life to the station, and I can tell that it is missing from the new Jammin 1075. There is only so much you can do when your voice tracking!

Wow that crazy, considering the fact that some of the best air talent USED to be on middays, a few years back, or is currentlly.
Sheryl Stewert, Stacey Lynn, Jayne from NRK(remember her?) Bozyk on Kufo, Michael Baily on k103 before he moved to middays.Infact I think some of the best Talent in portland is on Middays.Inessa on kink(One of the best jocks on Kink( was on middays before they let her go.So Really Danner, I find it the opposite, why did radio stations invest money on good talent for middays, if they really weren't that important? Why were some of the strongest air talents on Midday, if they really are not that important. I have also noticed that MOST of the midday jocks on Top 40 or rhythmic station are WOMEN and ONLY WOMEN! You will find very few men working a midday shift on a Top 40 radio station. That is an estrogen filled time slot that is designed for women, and women only. Who made that rule? Who the hell knows.

Chr- Christian Hit Radio.
Sorry Danner, What I was trying to say was Top 40 and Rythmic stations.
And yes, I agree Alexa is great, She was one of the best jocks on 95.5. I just wish She was live and local. Shes a solid jock and she doesn't try to sound like a sister! Or should I say Sista!
Some of the jocks go WAAAAy overboard with the ebonics. Im wondering if when they signed their contract they had to say a certain amount of ebonics on the air during their airshift.
Must say sentences like "You got me straight trippin boo"
"we family yo."
"Its off the heezy for sheezy playa".
Ok I'm starting to sound like Dj Fresh!

Thanks Legal, with all the drama and changes I had to see what this board was saying. Indeed those were great times at Jammin, a lil bippidy-bip and the creativity was flowin. Beano, you must have just started listening to Jammin after I did afternoons there for about 4 years with Careezy.

I think Ebro is a key ingredient that is mising from The Playhouse. It was more of a smarter show, When the Playhouse had "Ebro". They actually discussed issues ect. Im geting tired of the show revolving around how dumb Duryan is.

Anybody know where "Pretty boy Dante" is today??
