Up until very recently, I was a strong supporter of Hillary Rodham Clinton. But after today, I really think it’s time she concedes the nomination to Senator Obama. I sincerely feel Senator Clinton would make a very good president. She’d certainly do much better than our current commander and chief, the dimmest bulb in Washington DC, George W. Bush. But I’m really afraid that if she doesn’t drop out now and throw her support behind Senator Obama, things might get a bit dicey for the Democrats. The GOP is masterful at throwing everything and the kitchen sink at their opponents. And now, John McCain is getting some good press all the while Hillary Rodham Clinton sticks her foot in her mouth regarding her RFK comments. I can just see it, three more months of Barack Obama and Hillary Rodham Clinton dueling it out until the convention in very late August. That gives Senator McCain considerable time to drive up Senator Obama’s negatives, launching into a full frontal assault against Senator Obama.

Senators Obama and Clinton need to make peace and more forward, raising money and focusing the nation like a laser beam on why John McCain and the GOP do not deserve the White House or the US Congress.

Too, Bill Clinton is going to have to buck up and support Senator Obama. If he wants to be seen as an elder statesman of both the party and the country, it's time he show Senator Obama some love and throw his considerable weight behind Mr. Obama's candidacy.

I think she will drop out after the last primary, which at this point is fine with me. Only a few more weeks. Staying in the race this long probably has strengthened her position to lobby for VP if she really wants that.

With a nod to William Weston Patton, and tongue firmly in cheek, here goes:

Old Ron Brown’s body lies a-moldering in the grave,
While weep the sons of bondage whom he ventured all to save;
But though he lost his life while struggling for the slave,
His soul is marching on.

Ron Brown was a scoundrel, but undaunted, true and brave,
And Clinton knows his valor when he fought her ass to save;
Now, though the grass grows green above his tragic early grave,
His soul is marching on.

He fought for 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue,
And a young Willy Clinton back in 1992;
He was soon called a traitor, themselves the traitor crew,
But his soul is marching on.

Ron Brown was to testify the truth for all to see,
But they arranged a little accident to happen April 3,
Yet soon throughout the Sunny South the slaves shall all be free,
For his soul is marching on.

Corruption that he heralded from heaven now he views,
As the smarmy loony Clintons wave the red, white and the blue.
And heaven rings with anger o’er the deed they yet might do,
For his soul is marching on.

Ye soldiers of Freedom, then strike, while strike ye may,
The death blow of oppression in a better time and way,
For the dawn of old Ron Brown has brightened into day,
And his soul is marching on.
