See now, I would not vote for a person like that. If they were a Republican, would you Deane? Or do I just need to do the " we all sin " dance here?

CJ, my actual position is that these types issues are equally spread around among the parties. There are people on this forum who are so unrealistic as to think it's all Republicans, so I have to post a few examples from time to time to show it isn't.

Right, so would that effect your vote? Because the position of the people that you are referring to, many time myself included, is that it effects for whom you vote. So would you vote for that person if they were a Republican? Would it effect your vote?

Yeah, well no party is perfect.

But some are more perfect than others!

Get back to us when the Democratic party fuck up list even comes close to matching these:

http://senate2008guru.blogspot.com/2007/08/republican-culture-of-corruption-2007 .html

(and that's a nice list)

We see these, "See Democrats do it too!" posts all the time. They don't mean anything really where the party as a whole is concerned.

There are always bad eggs. The secret is the nature of the stench and the volume!

Republicans have the WORST of the WORST, and volume aplenty.

And they are the party of Jesus, Moral Values and other such bull shit. Hypocrites, en-masse! Nearly all of them.

I guess that would disqualify anyone from public office who has ever filed for bankruptcy, defaulted on a student loan, was buried in medical bills and couldn't keep up with the payments, missed a child support payment...

I too would think twice about voting for a person who made seriously poor choices in terms of personal finances, but to eliminate such a large cluster of the population from holding public office seems a bit of a stretch.

Yes it probably would, depending on the circumstances. Anyone can slip into bad luck, but basically, if they don't have the judgment to conduct their personal affairs in a reasonable manner, how can they conduct the affairs of the office they hold in a better fashion.

You may find the "it's never my fault" crowd acceptable, I usually don't.

I think it's fair to not vote for someone because they made bad financial decisions, but to compare foreclosing on a home to cheating on your wife and fathering a child with that woman, you're crazy.
