I heard Tom Hartman make a vague reference to "beating Rush in Portland." Does anyone have the ARB on this? Demographics?

Isn't Hartman on in morning drive? That would be tough to compare.

Thom Hartmann's national show is 9 - noon, which is the same as Limbaugh.

They go head to head at 9. I kind of doubt he's really beating Rush in the ratings. It would be great though.

I’m sure that in the world of commercial radio, Rush Limbaugh probably bests Thom Hartmann at the 9am – 12pm slot in Portland. But I must say that KPOJ does rather well in the ratings, given that the KPOJ progressive format has only been on the air in the area for a few years.

I should note the OPB radio does rather well in Portland, too. So KPOJ's success in Portland shouldn't be much of a surprise. Will Thom Hartmann ever beat Rush, it's hard to say. I do worry though that Air America has seen better days and better hosts, most notably Al Franken. I thought Al did a great job and had a wonderful supporting cast. Yes, I am a true, blue state liberal.

KPOJ has very little Air America content anymore. During 6a-12a, there are only 5 hours of Air America content: Thom Hartmann from 9a-12p and Rachel Maddow from 6p-8p. There are 3 hours of local radio, 3 hours from Jones Radio Network, and 6 hours from Nova-M. And AAR news was yanked about a year ago.

So we probably shouldn't think of KPOJ as an "Air America" station anymore. If Air America Radio went out of business next week, Hartmann would quickly jump to Nova-M and KPOJ would simply fill 6p-8p with something else and you'd hardly even notice the difference.
